Retail and Commercial Expenditure Pattern Survey and Analysis 6 3. Economic Development Opportunities Roadmap 24 4. Key Objectives 32 5. High-Potential Growth Areas 37 6. Priorities, Directions and Recommended Action Items 44 2 NICHOLS Applied Management 1. Introduction – The Importance of Community Sustainability Retention and growth of existing businesses, new business attraction, jobs, investment, residential development and new commercial/industrial assessment – these are just some of the benefits to be realized through a well-focused economic and community development strategy. They are also essential, some would say critical, for the Town of Beaumont at this point in time. Long term community sustainability depends on the ability to maintain a healthy balance and harmony between economic, municipal fiscal/financial, social and environmental sustainability. While each is equally important, many would argue that economic sustainability is the ‘engine’ that ultimately drives and sustains a community. Building Blocks of a Sustainable Community 3 NICHOLS Applied Management Research has shown that ‘communities of choice’ are increasingly replacing ‘communities of necessity’ for many highly-skilled workers in the more suburban parts of North America. These individuals are increasingly looking to live in affordable, high quality of life communities – with excellent recreational amenities and clean, safe and family-oriented neighbourhoods – but they are also looking to minimize commuting times associated with travel to and from work. Beaumont’s well-developed social and community infrastructure, natural environment and close proximity to Alberta’s main urban centres all contribute to the Town’s overall quality of life.

  • Archaeological Society of Alberta Annual Conference
Archaeological Society of Alberta Annual Conference May 1st, 2021 Self-Guided Field Trips Organized By ASA Edmonton Centre ASA Red Deer Centre ASA Bodo Centre ASA Calgary Centre ASA Lethbridge Centre ASA Southeastern Centre The six centres of the Archaeological Society of Alberta are pleased to offer you self-guided field trips for the afternoon portion of the 2021 ASA Annual Conference, held virtually this year. In lieu of the traditional field trip organized by the hosting centre, each centre has organized a self-guided walking or driving tour of local archaeological and historical sites for members to visit. You are invited to participate in the field trip at your own leisure. If you wish to visit field trips provided by the other centres, they are all provided in this packet. Happy and safe travels! The Archaeological Society of Alberta would like to acknowledge the Indigenous Peoples of all the lands that we are on today. We would like to take a moment to acknowledge the importance of the lands we share and call home. We do this to reaffirm our commitment and responsibility in improving relationships between nations and improving our own understanding of local Indigenous peoples and their cultures. This is the ancestral and unceded territory of the people of Treaty 4, 6, 7, 8, and 10 as well as the Métis homeland. Their histories, languages, and cultures have enhanced and continue to enrich our province and our organization. We acknowledge the harms and mistakes of the past and consider how we can move forward in a spirit of truth, reconciliation, and collaboration.

Kelsey, La Verendrye, the Blackfoot and the Cree All searched that river for their destiny; Near here David Thompson, His bride Charlotte by his side, Felt a country stirring as he looked across the great divide. Still many miles to go before that river takes its rest, The story of this river is the story of the west. At Rocky Mountain House where The Nor-westers built a post, They pushed their fur trade empire across to the coast; Trading with the Peigan and the Kootenays, They loaded their canoes to make the long paddle east.

However, sometimes health conditions and other circumstances limit mobility. When that happens, it is necessary to find alternative ways of accessing services that are important to an individual’s overall independence and well-being. To assist in this effort, we have put together a listing of organizations and businesses that provide essential services and transportation in Edmonton and surrounding area.
