Bible stories to consider for short movies: This list is by no means exhaustive -- I encourage you to read the Bible and find your own story. Remember, you need to be able to make the film without special costumes, special effects, or a cast of thousands. So there are some stories that would be hard to in their current form (Noah and the Flood) but you might be able to adapt them to a contemporary context (Noah and the Killer Virus) that would also be easier to film. (Flood of the world - hard. People dying from virus - easier.) These are taken, more or less, in canonical sequence: Abram and Sarai in Egypt (Gen 12:10-20) Solomon’s ascent to the throne (1 Kg 1) Abram, Sarai, and Hagar (Gen 16) (example of Rehoboam’s ascent to the throne (1 Kg 12) surrogate mothers, an issue today) Elijah & the prophets of Baal (1 Kg 18) Destruction of Sodom (Gen 19) Naboth’s vineyard (1 Kg 21) Isaac steals Esau’s blessing (Gen 27-28:5) Micaiah the prophet (1 Kg 22) Jacob & Laban & Laban’s daughters (Gen 29- Athaliah, the Only Queen (2 Kg 11) 31) Bad king Ahaz (2 Kg 17) Dinah and Shechem (Gen 34) Jeremiah’s Temple Sermon (Jer 7) Judah and Tamar (Gen 38) Jeremiah and the King (Jer 36) Moses in Midian (Exod 2.11-4:26) Jeremiah in the Cistern (Jer 38) Aaron and the Golden Calf (Exod 32) God and the Accuser (“the satan”) make a bet Moses and Grumpy Israelites in the wilderness (Job 1-2) (Num 12-14) Ruth (Ruth) Balam and his talking ass (Num 22-24) Esther (Esther) Baal Peor (Num 25) Disobedience of Achan (Josh 7) Stories from Daniel Almost anything from Judges: Ehud and Eglon (Jdg 3:12-30) Deborah & Yael (Jdg 4-5) Gideon (Jdg 6-7) Avimelech (Jdg 9) Jephthah & his daughter (Jdg 11) Eli (1 Sam 1-2, 4:12-22) Samuel & Saul (Good: 1 Sam 9-11; Bad: 1 Sam 12-15) David & Goliath (1 Sam 17) David & Saul (1 Sam 16, 18-19) David & Nabal (1 Sam 25) Abner & Joab (2 Sam 2:8-3:39) David & Bathsheba (2 Sam 11-12) Amnon & Tamar (2 Sam 13).
