Le Domestique Bespoke Tour of Flanders Experience Ride 12th March 2016 History of the Race With the Ronde van Vlaanderen or Tour of Flanders as it is more common- ly known, celebrating its 100th edition in 2016 (having only missed 3 editions since its inception in 1913 due toWorld War 1), now really is the time to sample this incredible race route first hand. 63 of the 99 editions have been won by a Belgium rider, with the race and tactics required to win it, evolving over time. No rider has won more than 3 editions, leading to many saying that to win this particular racer requires a huge amount of luck, above and beyond that of the other Spring Classics. The route has changed over the years with the current race route having been used since 2012 when the race finish moved to Oudenaarde. The Oude Kwaremont and Paterberg now feature as the final two climbs of the route, witnessing some of the biggest battles in professional cycling. Le Domestique Bespoke Tour of Flanders Experience Ride 12th March 2016 Tour of Flanders Long Route 125km – 1800m Elevation Gain The Tour of Flanders is an icon of the Spring Classics and our experience ride delivers all the highlights from the race’s 100 year history. With an incredible format designed by the LDT team and a local race ex- pert with in depth knowledge of every aspect of this incredible race and area, this is the defining Flanders experience. We’ll tackle the the iconic climbs of the modern race route including the Oude Kwaremont, the infamous Koppenberg and the race’s finale, the Pater- berg. However unlike the Flanders sportive, we’ll also be tackling the closed to traffic, “Eiffel Tower of Flanders”, the Muur van Geraardsbergen. “Looking back, you get a bit nostalgic, but from a competitive point of view, Flanders was one of the most horrible races to ride but one of the greatest races to win.” – Sean Kelly Riding Difficulty ★★★★★– The Combination of cobbles, pinch climbs, the weather and history will make this a truly memorable day out. A rare chance to have full pro team support, while tackling this icon would make it one not to be missed. • WINTER 2011 Andreas Klier
WINTER 2011 Andreas Klier "Only those who are in top condition can say that the Ronde is not hard. For everyone else, it's the Way of the Cross." – Andrea Tafi The Ronde van Vlaanderen, also known as Vlaanderens Mooiste - Flanders's Most Beautiful - is a classic like no other in the entire sport of cycling. Nowhere does a race so perfectly encapsulate an area's passion for the bicycle. A trip down the 250+ kilometers of road on Easter Sunday in Flanders will show you an entire country out to celebrate arguably the most difficult one day race in the world. For those that wish to win the Tour of Flanders, the race becomes something more than just another Sunday classic. For a rider like Garmin-Cervelo's road captain, Andreas Klier, it meant becoming a part of the landscape. Klier, born and raised in Germany, moved to Belgium when he became a professional, and spent over a decade plying the region's intricate web of tiny farm roads that give the biggest home field advantage in sports to riders who know all the secrets of their home turf. Klier recently moved away from Belgium, but when he returned for a cold, December photoshoot with Castelli, the hardman was all smiles. Despite the icy, snowy, freezing conditions, the former Tour of Flanders runner-up couldn't stop smiling. It was apparent that though Klier might not have been born here and might not still live here, his heart and soul will always have a home in Flanders. The cobbled monsters of the tough, hilly region of Flanders known as the Vlaamse Ardennen are difficult on a good day, but with icy coating the classic climbs of the Oude Kwaremont, the Paterberg, and the Koppenberg, a whole new level was achieved.

102nd TOUR OF FLANDERS Sunday 1 April 2018 Last year, spectators of the Tour of Flanders, which celebrated its 101st anniversary, were treated to yet another epic race. For the first time in the Tour’s history, the start was moved to the heart of Antwerp’s magnificent historic city centre. The race itself proved to be an absolutely thrilling experience, with hun- dreds of thousands of fans lining Flemish roads. And finally, we celebrated the return of the iconic Muur van Geraardsbergen in the circuit.
