Le Domestique Bespoke Tour of Flanders Experience Ride 21st May 2016 History of the Race With the Ronde van Vlaanderen or Tour of Flanders as it is more common- ly known, celebrating its 100th edition in 2016 (having only missed 3 editions since its inception in 1913 due toWorld War 1), now really is the time to sample this incredible race route first hand. 63 of the 99 editions have been won by a Belgium rider, with the race and tactics required to win it, evolving over time. No rider has won more than 3 editions, leading to many saying that to win this particular racer requires a huge amount of luck, above and beyond that of the other Spring Classics. The route has changed over the years with the current race route having been used since 2012 when the race finish moved to Oudenaarde. The Oude Kwaremont and Paterberg now feature as the final two climbs of the route, witnessing some of the biggest battles in professional cycling. With an incredible format designed by the LDT team and a local race expert with in depth knowledge of every aspect of this incredible race and area, this is the defining Flanders experience. We’ll tackle the the iconic climbs of the modern race route including the Oude Kwaremont, the infamous Koppenberg and the race’s finale, the Pa- terberg.
