Institute Academic Calender 279 PART A: PREFACE TKR College of Engineering & Technology, established in the year 2002, has been sponsored by TKR Educational Society, Medbowli, Meerpet, Hyderabad, Telangana. It is recognized by AICTE and approved by the State Govt. now Telangana, permanently affiliated to Jawaharlal Nehru Technological University Hyderabad (JNTUH). UGC recognition under Sections 2(f) and 12 (B) further strengthens over cause of quality education. This Professional college has been established with a cherished vision to provide quality education and to be among the best of the institutions for the budding engineers and technologists. With added emphasis on attitudes, skills and knowledge it has become the epicenter of creative solutions to scores of students from varied backgrounds. The College proudly offers 6 UG and 3 PG programmes in Engineering, a Professional Course in MBA and 5 programmes in Diploma Course. With 15years of rich standing in the educational era, TKR College of Engineering & Technology has an excellent track record which is evidenced across holding accreditation by NBA in 2008 for 3 years and Re-accreditation for 2 years in 2015, and subsequently extended for one more year. This Institution has the distinction of being one among the Top 10 Ranking and Reckoning Institutes of choice and preference for the aspiring students. The College is very pleased to submit the Self Study Report (SSR) for accreditation. In all modesty, TKR College of Engineering & Technology presents itself for quality inspection to serve the stake holders better in future by getting accredited. The SSR has been prepared as per the norms set by NATIONAL ASSESSMENT AND ACCREDITATION COUNCIL (NAAC) and gives an insight into our Vision and Mission. 1 PART B: EXECUTIVE SUMMARY OF THE INSTITUTION TKR College of Engineering & Technology was established in the year 2002 and is affiliated to JNTUH, Hyderabad. The institute is accredited by NBA for the first time in 2008 for a period of three years. The programmes that were accredited are EEE, ECE, CSE and BT. It is re-accredited by NBA in June 2015 for a period of two years and later extended to one more year. The programmes that were accredited are EEE, MECH, ECE and CSE. The process of recognition by UGC under Section 2(f) & 12 B of the UGC Act, 1956 is awaiting a formal approval. The institute was established with a well-defined motive of serving the Society by making a humble contribution to ‘education’ especially through Technical Education. The Institution is situated in serene and natural surroundings at Meerpet, near LB nagar, Hyderabad. It is situated near the Shamshabad highway (Inner ring road). The institute offers Civil Engineering, Electrical & Electronics Engineering, Mechanical Engineering, Electronics and Communication Engineering, Computer Science & Engineering, Information Technology and also MBA programme. These courses are approved by AICTE, and the University (JNTUH) to which the institute is affiliated permanently. The Institution follows the norms and decisions as per the regulatory bodies - JNTUH University as well as AICTE for the required physical infrastructure, recruitment of the faculty, admission procedure, fee structure and curriculum. TKR College of Engineering & Technology is a self-contained campus comprising of everything that students on campus require and it has total building space of 3,27,100 Square feet. Away from the hustle-bustle of the city life and yet nearer to the city and in terms of transport etc., the institute is spread over an area of 10 Acres of lush greenness. The institute is developed on par with international standards with excellent infrastructural facilities of multi-storied buildings, state-of-the-art laboratories, exhaustive e-enabled digital libraries, extensive day and night playgrounds, comfortable hostels, hygienic canteens, uninterrupted power supply, Wi-Fi Net connectivity, auditoriums, reprographic facilities etc., The Institution's 2 prime ambition is to get acknowledged as a premier institution with a difference and an island of excellence. The difference is being created by providing conducive environment to teaching, learning, research and innovation, full autonomy to the teacher and the students to realize their maximum potential and actualization with novel ideas, Information and Communication Technology (ICT) and value imbibed academic practices. The Board of Governors, academic and administrative bodies, various committees of the institution and the students of all Departments are whole heartedly rendering their services for realizing this mammoth ambition. Strengths: The Institute has more than 400 faculty members and a majority of them are Post Graduates and 21 of them are Doctorates. The institute actively encourages our faculty to take up research work along with necessary incentives. The Institute has good infrastructure with well quipped laboratories. Qualified and well educated management with broad vision for academic excellence. Reputed among 250 engineering colleges affiliated with JNTUH and preferred by students aspiring to join engineering. The Institute has good liaison with research organizations and industries. Memorandum of Understanding (MoU) with different Companies is as follows: 1. We have a MoU with SVS Hydraulics, An ISO 9001-2008 Company, Balanagar, Hyderabad-500037. They already contributed Rs. 6.5 lakhs worth of machinery Hydraulic powered, materials test biaxial tensile testing machine. In a reciprocating gesture we offered our expertise in fiber reinforced plastics technology and supporting to pursue research on the area of stress analysis accelerated AG-ING analysis of pull-truded products and SMC products. Pull- truded rebars and their characterizations as related areas. Analyzing this as one of thrust area, Research activities is abundant, a couple of Ph.D. thesis work can be produced. We are using the said material for enhancement of quality in improving 3 the respective products. 2. We have a MoU with Andromeda Energy Technologies Pvt. Ltd. It is an ISO 9001-2008 Certified Company. A Project by title “Automated Solar Power Wheel-Chair” is developed, this project is undertaken under the close guidance of EEE Department. The address of the company Factory D-72 Phase I-IDA Jeedimetla Hyderabad- 500055. 3. Battery bikes Industry Pvt. Ltd. 24-92/3, LN Nagar, IDA Uppal, Hyderabad - 500039, developed a MoU with our Institute. 4. Mavin value Creations- Software Solutions Pvt. Ltd, Saroor nagar, RR Dist., Hyderabad, also developed a MoU with Department of CSE, TKRCET. An Automation of Educational Practices is the major project in collaboration with CSE and IT Departments of this Institute. This initiative is quite useful for our B.Tech, M.Tech

The past year 2012-13 has gone down as one of the most happening in the Higher Education sector in the States recent history. The State saw bold steps being taken in the Higher Education sector with a clear emphasis on the two Es: Expansion and Excellence. On this yardstick, the State created a record of sorts. As many as 15 higher education institutions, 3 new universities, 3 new Government colleges and 9 new Govt aided colleges will commence its operations in a single Academic Year 2013-14. Taken together, this would account for the largest expansion proposal in higher education institutions in the State in a single year. The year saw the addition of three new State- aided Universities viz Kazi Nazrul University at Asansol, Panchanan Barma University in Cooch Behar and the Techno India Private University at Salt Lake, Kolkata.

Today, an increasing number of countries see tertiary education as key to individual prosperity, economic security and the enduring strength of democracy. Besides the clear relationship between higher education and employment, nations are becoming conscious of the fact that there exists a deeper connection between www.IndianJournals.com higher educational attainment and the economy. It is, therefore, essential for countries like India that have (1) chosen the service-sector led growth path, (2) are dependent on sustainable domestic demand to minimize the impact of global recession and (3) are keen to maintain a competitive edge in the global economy, to expand their higher education systems. Widening of access to higher education is also essential for societies struggling to overcome socio-economic inequalities.
