October 19, 2016 Volume XXIII Issue 3 A PUBLICATION OF HAMBURG AREA HIGH SCHOOL Publications and HEP students visit Renaissance Faire Gabby Krick – 10 The Pennsylvania Renaissance Faire is celebrating their 36th annual season this year. Hamburg Area Publications and HEP students had the chance to go and participate in this exciting event that reverses time. There is so much to do that it is almost hard to spend just one day there. The Renaissance Faire is most definitely known for their incredible food. From fries to mac n cheese, chocolate covered everything and even giant turkey legs, they have it all. I am sure even Wolfgang was craving something. Marching Band participates Speaking of Wolfgang on this trip he was able to ride a bus for the first time! In each skit history from the Renaissance era is included in it. For example in Archery through the Ages they show how English long bows and wood arrows were made and how they were in different opportunities effective weapons. The actors and actresses who participate in the Renaissance Faire are so professional throughout the year with their characters. Director Ms. Megan Reimer stated that she feels that it is the best music and she has had previous Freshman take exciting trip experiences with his music which is why she made the show a Stevie Wonder field show. Marching Band participates in other events such as the Kutztown 150th Anniversary Parade, The King Frost Parade, The Hamburg Holiday Parade, to BCTC Children’s Day Parade, and the Memorial Day Parade. The Marching Band involves Color Guard, which is where students do routines with flags Tabitha Engel - 9 and the instrumental players. When asked about what it is like to be in Marching Band, the word “family” was frequently used. On October 3 the freshmen class took a trip to the Berks Career and Technology Center if any of the classes there interested them. They took a tour of the campus and learned about what would happen if they decided to go there. There will be an open house for the West Campus, in Leesport, on October 20 and one for the East Campus, in Oley, on October 18. Typically students enroll in BCTC as a freshman and take classes for three years, starting when they are a Sophomore.
