Pawnee is fictitious to attribute to Leslie Knope, a character on NBC television show Parks and Recreation, which is set in the fictional indiana town of Pawnee.Welcome in Pawnee: More exciting than New York, more glamorous than Hollywood, about the same size as Bismarck, North Dakota's Pawnee, Leslie Knope (played by Amy Poehler) The book chronicles the city's colourful residents and hopping nightlife, and explores some of the most hilarious events of its crazy history - just the whole town was on fire, its ongoing raccoon infestation, and the cult that took over in the 1970s. Packed with laughter aloud to funny photos, illustrations and comments by other Pawnee residents, this is a must-read that will make you enjoy every moment of your stay in The Greatest Town in America.LanguageEnglishPublisherHachette Books FormatPaperbackOriginal LanguagesEnglishNumber pages256AuthorLeslie KnopetTitlePawneeISBN-13978140131066 2011ISBN-10140131064816 February 2012 contact the Church of Parks and Recreation, I must confess that I had no idea that I had gone missing before. The show is hilarious, packed with laughter and oohs and aahs and even moments when I break a bit. When a friend bought this book for me as a birthday present, I dug into it impatiently and reveled in every moment. It is out of the question to enjoy this book. The only answer was to eat every page insatiably and then feel sorry for myself when I got to the end and found that there would be no more laughs and fun tidbits that only add to the story. PAWNEE: GREATEST TOWN IN AMERICA is the perfect companion to the show, which is so perfect in so many ways. So so and so! PAWNEE includes characters from the show with back stories about the city that we have never seen or heard before, such as historical information about Pawnee's founding in a guide to the city's restaurants and famous raccoon-infested parks. While I don't at all read television or film binding outside of books about making a movie through LORD OF RINGS or ALIENS (my favorite movie ever, just saying), I was drooling over the opportunity to read this book. If you're a fan of parks and recreation, believe me - you need this book. You just need this book, and really, that's all I can say about this book. And if you haven't seen parks and recreation, go buy a month worth Of Netflix and watch the first few seasons. Fall in love with Pawne and the characters. And then buy this book and fall in love with it. VERDICT: While focused on experienced parks and recreation fans, this book is a die-hard fan of the new best friend, combining the view from the show and the new information you need to know! December 31, 2015Pawnee: The greatest city in America is the perfect compliment to parks and recreation, which says a lot, as I feel Parks and Rec is one of the greatest shows in recent history. Written in the same style as the show, featuring guest segments of each member of the wonderful Pawn Department. If only local government everywhere could be filled with people like Leslie Knope and her team. This should be the best TV tie-in I've ever read with John Winchester's Supernatural magazine. On the show, Leslie wrote this book because of her love for her hometown of Pawney, Indiana, warts and all. And seeing her devotion to the quaint history of this city, along with her remarkable precision (which she boasts several times). Reading this, I really started to miss the parks and recreation. Maybe it's time to rewatch the entire series. Maybe past time ... The author is a librarything.com client. Helpful? July 7, 2015This book was terrific. It has a section that Raul from Venezuela wrote about his time in Pawne. But before that, when Leslie introduced him, she said: What do Sarajevo, Krakow, Pyongyang, Kinshasa and Borakua, Venezuela have in common? Yes, they are all places of unimaginable tragedy, war and/or ethnic cleansing (p. 175). She then has a footnote that says: N.B. that all these cities were chosen long before tragedies/wars/ethnic cleansing took place. Just bad luck (p. 175). In Raoul's section, he mentions: Cities around the world (Wuhan, China and Minas, Uruguay, for example) respect our pride (p. 175). It's pretty funny! This book was made before the coronavirus happened! So after Leslie mentions how all the Pawnees of the Twin Cities had horrible things happening in them, Raoul mentions Wuhan, China is one of its twin cities. I find it quite amusing. Since the show began in 2009, the city's colourful history and were a joke or focal point for many episodes. Pawney's review is as a typical midsize city in southern Indiana, located in the fictional Wamapoke County about 90 miles from Indianapolis. Dialogue with the show and other officially licensed materials offer a population ranging from 60,000 to just over 80,000. (note 1) Pawney's fictional story begins with its founding in 1817, which was soon followed by the driving of the Wamamapoke Native American tribe from the ground. The city is depicted as having an extensive history of abuse of the people of Wamapoke and misogyny, which it celebrates in various murals on the walls at City Hall. Pawne's twin city is Eagleton, Indiana, a smaller but more affluent neighborhood. Eagleton was founded by the richest original Pawne settlers who moved uphill shortly after the creation of Pawne to found their own city. Since then, mutual animosity has been ged between communities. However, in the Pawnee-Eagleton Tip Off Classic, due to the impending bankruptcy of Eagleton (caused by excessive overspending on luxury amenities for Eagleton residents), Eagleton dissolves and is included in Pawnee. Pawne is said to be in Indiana's 10th congressional district, which has actually been out of date since 2003.

“Joyful Noise” Reverend Bill Gause Overbrook Presbyterian Church 22nd Sunday in Ordinary Time September 2, 2018 First Scripture Lesson: Psalm 100 1Make a joyful noise to the Lord, all the earth. 2Worship the Lord with gladness; come into his presence with singing. 3Know that the Lord is God. It is he that made us, and we are his; we are his people, and the sheep of his pasture. 4Enter his gates with thanksgiving, and his courts with praise. Give thanks to him, bless his name. 5For the Lord is good; his steadfast love endures forever, and his faithfulness to all generations. Second Scripture Lesson: Psalm 150 1Praise the Lord! Praise God in his sanctuary; praise him in his mighty firmament! 2Praise him for his mighty deeds; praise him according to his surpassing greatness! 3Praise him with trumpet sound; praise him with lute and harp! 4Praise him with tambourine and dance; praise him with strings and pipe! 5Praise him with clanging cymbals; praise him with loud clashing cymbals! 6Let everything that breathes praise the Lord! Praise the Lord! ❖ ❖ ❖ ❖ ❖ Sermon: Joyful Noise Music is an amazing and powerful thing. It is ubiquitous in our human experience touching almost every part of our lives across every era of human history. In his book, This is Your Brain on Music, author Daniel Levitin writes: “… Whenever humans come together for any reason, music is there, …. weddings, funerals, graduation from college, men marching off to war, stadium sporting events, a night on the town, prayer, a romantic dinner, mothers rocking their infants to sleep and college students studying with music as a background … music is and [always] was part of the fabric of everyday life.”1 Considering the benefits music contributes to our well-being and our cultural and social identity, you could rank it right up there with fire and the wheel as among the most versatile and creative developments in human history; and just as ancient.

Willden Department of Communication Studies In partial fulfillment of the requirements For the Degree of Master of Arts Fort Collins, Colorado Summer 2016 Master’s Committee Advisor: Nick Marx Karrin Vasby Anderson Doug Cloud Copyright by Seth J. Willden 2016 All Rights Reserved ABSTRACT FROM PARKS TO PRESIDENTS: POLITICAL SENSIBILITIES OF NARRATIVE POLITICAL FICTION This thesis examines the ways televised narrative political fiction can portray political sensibilities. Using the NBC program, Parks and Recreation (2009-2015), and the Netflix streaming service program, House of Cards (2013-2016), I explore how narrative television presents political philosophies to audiences, equipping them to discuss political discourse. ii ACKNOWLEDGEMENTS Before we begin discussing the political implications of narrative television, I must first provide a narrative of acknowledgement. The MA program in Communication Studies is only a two-year program, and this document marks the end of that two-year journey. But I have been at Colorado State for five years. In a way, the last chapter of this thesis will be the last literal chapter of my five-year career as a CSU student. I wish to first thank the professors that transformed my understanding of the world: Dr. Thomas Dunn, Dr. Scott Diffrient, and Dr. Eric Aoki. You were my first communication studies professors. Each in turn provided excellent education, guidance and support throughout my time as a scholar. I will never forget your pedagogical styles and hunger for understanding the communicative processes of our world. Next I want to thank my thesis committee: Dr.

Repowered Feminist Analysis of Parks and Recreation A Thesis submitted to Southern Utah University in partial fulfillment of the requirements for the degree of Master of Arts in Professional Communication December 2018 By Bailee M. Bahr Southern Utah University Thesis Committee: Kevin Stein, PhD, Chair I certify that I have read and viewed this project and that, in my opinion, it is satisfactory in scope and quality as a thesis for the degree of Master of Professional Communication. Repowered Feminist Analysis 1 Kevin Stein __________________________________ Kevin Stein, Ph.D., Capstone Chair Matthew Barton __________________________________ Matthew Barton, Ph.D., MAPC Graduate Director Abstract Repowered Feminist Analysis 2 This paper analyzes the television show Parks and Recreation in order to find principles of Foss and Foss’ (2009) characteristics of repowered feminism. This paper aims to discover if Leslie Knope represents a new form of feminism, what characteristics specifically that she represents, and if these qualities contribute to a freer, less oppressed Leslie Knope. The analysis examines three episodes of the show and uses feminist rhetorical criticism to analyze the findings. I found that repowered feminism applies both to a feminist’s concerns with feminist issues and the applicability of repowered feminism to all types of problem solving. Knope, whether focusing directly on feminist issues or on the various obstacles she faces while doing her job, is usually presented as more successful when she implements the characteristics of repowered feminism. Keywords: parks and recreation, repowered feminism, pop culture Acknowledgements A massive hug and kiss to my adorable husband who encouraged me to finish my thesis in spite of the plethora of excuses.

A small town that serves as Everytown, USA, Pawnee has problems, from its obesity crisis to the raccoon infestation to the corrupt Sweetums Candy Company dominating the economy. But no problem is too big or small to be solved by Pawnee local government. This committee begins at season 6, right when the pretentious town of Eagleton goes bankrupt and the merger begins. Will Leslie be recalled as city councilwoman? What will happen with Rent-A-Swag? How will two towns that have lived as sworn enemies integrate? From Ron to Donna to Ben to Ann to Garry-Jerry-Larry-Terry, it's up to Pawnee's Department of Parks and Recreation to save the merger--and perhaps the town itself. 1 Letter from the Director ________________________________________ Delegates, Welcome! It is my privilege to welcome you to FCMUN as your crisis director. Last year, I was the crisis director for the Democratic National Committee and it was a blast, ending in Chance the Rapper being declared Emperor of my home city of Chicago, Bill De Blasio annihilating Trump Tower with the help of his assistant Kim Kardashian, and Bernie leading a secession movement for the northeast states. I can’t wait to see you all plot and solve more crazy crises.

Brooke Conaway and Christopher Clark1 ABSTRACT Based on a first-year multidisciplinary course, Swansonomics is a class where students examine the libertarian beliefs espoused by the character Ron Swanson from the television series Parks and Recreation. The show provides great examples of rent seeking, fiscal policy issues, social policy issues, and bureaucratic incentive structures. These Parks and Recreation video clips can be used in any class to cover a variety of issues. Examples of topics include the expected economic consequences of specific political or economic philosophies, unintended consequences of policies, various systems of taxation, public and private incentive structures, and varying degrees of capitalism and government intervention. Introduction This paper is based on a first-year multidisciplinary course taught at a liberal arts university. The course covers a variety of topics, with particular emphasis on different economic systems, varying degrees of capitalism, government intervention, and public choice issues.
