Price Tel: 01982 553229 Ward: Llanafan-fawr Mobile: 07974 761309 Shire: Brecknockshire Email: [email protected] Group: Powys Independent Alliance Date: September, 2016 Section 1: Role & Responsibilities I served on these Powys County Council committees [actual attendance/number of meetings held] and working groups: Powys County Council – 7/8 Audit Committee [from November, 2015] 3/3 Place Scrutiny Committee – 2/3 Licensing Act 2003 Committee – 3/3 Planning, Taxi Licensing and Rights of Way Committee [Chair] – 19/20 Brecknockshire – 5/6 I served on the following outside organisations: Evans Trust Pritchard Trust Builth Wells Sports Centre Management Committee Chair of Governors at Builth Wells County Primary School Section 2: Constituency activity I regularly attended Duhonw, Cilmeri, Llanafan Fawr and Llanwrthwl Community Councils, offering guidance and support, keeping them informed of Powys County Council [PCC] issues and passing on their concerns to relevant PCC departments. Examples of constituency work include – Regular highway inspections with PCC officers to highlight necessary repairs and maintenance needed. Chair Cribarth Quarry Liaison Committee. Attending cluster group meetings of Town and Community Councils - An initiative to explore the possibilities of taking on services as they are devolved from Powys County Council. Assisting in general enquiries relating to Planning and Rights of Way. Section 3: Learning & Development Adult & Child Protection and Corporate Parenting; Planning in Wales and Planning Protocol; Property Update; Powys Youth Forum; Regeneration & Economic Development; Well-Being of Future Generations Act 2015; Powys teaching Health Board Seminar 1 - Integrated Medium Term Plan [3 year plan]; Budget seminars 1,2 & 3; Mid Wales Healthcare Collaborative. Planning, Taxi Licensing & Rights of Way Committee development - Determining applications to register "new" town and village greens Licensing Act 2003 Committee development - Licensing Act 2003 Section 4: Outside organisations and other activities I worked as part of a multi-agency team planning and preparing for the annual traveller site at Ysciog Farm, for the Royal Welsh Show period. TWO CENTURIES OF BRECONSHIRE ANCESTRY By Myra Jones FROM PRITCHARD TO RICHARDS- Eighteenth Century beginnings In 1733, Edward Lewis married Jennet Jones in the parish of Llangasty Talyllyn, Breconshire. They had a daughter Jane (1747-1819) who married James Pritchard (1747-1824) in 1779 in Llanfihangel Talyllyn. At some point after that, James and Jane moved to the parish of Llanfihangel Abergwesyn where in 1791, their son John was born. Pritchards of Abergwesyn On the 24th of November 1815, in Llanfihangel Abergwesyn, John Pritchard, by now a farmer, married Margaret Evans (b 1791). They went on to have five children; William b 1816 at Goytrefan, Llanafan Fawr Anne b 1818 at Goytrefan , (no trace can be found) John b 1821 at Goytrefan, (no trace can be found) Eleanor/Elinor b 1824 at Goytrefan Thomas b 1830 at Argoed The baptisms of these children took place at the Troedrhiwdalar Chapel, Llanafanfawr; a Presbyterian chapel for dissenting Protestants. Goytrefan and Argoed were part of the Llwynmadoc estate so John and Margaret would have been tenant farmers. John Pritchard Senior died in 1845 and is buried at Troedrhiwdalar. On his gravestone it states that he was of Park Farm, Llangammarch and had been a member and Deacon of the chapel for many years. Census evidence reveals that his wife, Margaret Pritchard nee Evans died, aged 90yrs in Beulah on January 25th 1881 and is buried with her husband in the same grave (A 112).

    S T R A Y S Volume One: !'IARRIAGES Introduction This volume of 'stray' marriages is published with the hope that it will prove of some value as an additional source for the familv historian. For economic reasons, the 9rooms' names only are listed. Often people married many miles from their own parishes and sometimes also away from the parish of the spouse. Tracking down such a 'stray marriage' can involve fruitless and dishearteninq searches and may halt progress for many years. - Included here are 'strays', who were married in another parish within the county of Powys, or in another county. There are also a few non-Powys 'strays' from adjoining counties, particularly some which may be connected with Powys families. For those researchers puzzled and confused by the thought of dealing with patronymics, when looking for their Welsh ancestors, a few are to be found here and are ' indicated by an asterisk. A simple study of these few examples may help in a search for others, although it must be said, that this is not so easy when the father's name is not given. I would like to thank all those members who have helped in anyway with the compilation of this booklet. A second collection is already in progress; please· send any contributions to me. We will commit to a 'group practice' model for collaborative ministry and mission, with local churches working together in partnerships across familiar boundaries to enrich relationships and to share talents, gifts and resources. Instead of offering just one form and style across an area, we will offer a variety of worship and other opportunities, with a common aim of building a stronger, sustainable and more effective church which looks not only down the aisle but also out there into the community. Cyhoeddasom ein hargymhellion dros dro ar 1 Mehefin 2010 a chyhoeddwyd hysbysiadau o’r rhain mewn papurau lleol yn Gymraeg ac yn Saesneg, a oedd â chylchrediad yn yr etholaethau yr effeithiwyd arnynt, gan wahodd cynrychiolaethau o fewn y cyfnod statudol, sef un mis calendr. Roedd copïau o’r argymhellion hyn, ynghyd â mapiau eglurhaol, ar gael i’r cyhoedd eu harchwilio mewn mannau cyfleus yn yr etholaethau ac ar wefan y Comisiwn. Cynrychiolaethau a dderbyniwyd 2. Derbyniwyd 1 gynrychiolaeth (gweler i isod) ynghylch ein hargymhellion dros dro yn ystod y cyfnod statudol un mis. i. Cefnogodd Cyngor Sir Powys yr argymhelliad. 3. Nodwyd gan y Comisiwn, am na chafwyd unrhyw gynrychiolaeth o’r fath a nodir yn adran 6 (2) Deddf Etholaethau Seneddol 1986, nad oedd gofyniad statudol i gynnal ymchwiliad lleol. At hynny, penderfynodd y Comisiwn, o dan yr holl amgylchiadau, na fyddent yn ymarfer eu disgresiwn o dan adran 6 (1) i gynnal ymchwiliad Argymhellion terfynol 4. Ar ôl ystyried yn ofalus yr holl gynrychiolaethau a wnaed mewn ymateb i’w hargymhellion dros dro, roedd y Comisiwn yn fodlon mai’r argymhellion hynny oedd y ffordd orau o roi’r Rheolau ar waith.
