A recent excavation shows that it was established not later than 5th century AD. In this paper, the evidence found by excavation is shown in detail. It is also explained how the name of Wuntho appeared and what it was called before. Wuntho was a hiding place for the leaders of the anti-imperialist movement. The paper also describes how the British suppressed resistance leaders and how they controlled the Abstract administration of Wuntho. Using primary sources, secondary sources and field work the successive rulers (Sawbwas) of Wuntho are also described, including Sawbwa U Aung Myat and his attempt to protect the country, his support for the development of the region, and how he helped the welfare of people. This work shows the importance of the Wuntho Sawbwa’s efforts for the development of the region. His contribution of irrigated land and religious buildings for the welfare of the people are still giving benefits to the region. This work will be of significant value for social history. The research area is situated within the Pinlebu Township, Sagaing Region, Northern Myanmar. The present research includes field methods and laboratory investigations and employs the three methods to achieve the objectives of the research. It consists chiefly of the various igneous rock types which form a batholith and sedimentary units. Gold ore deposits are hosted in the Kanzachaung batholith (Wuntho massif). Five gold deposits were observed at Kaba area, productive gold deposits are MG-1, MG-2, MG- 3, MG-4 and MG-5. The mineralized gold vein occurrences are predominantly hosted in the granodiorite and diorite body. Some mineralized quartz veins are recognized in the fracture zone of granodiorite body. On the basis of the field criteria, petrology, mineralogy, structural features and tectonomagmatic events of the research area, two stages of mineralization may be assigned: (1) the early mineralization took place syn- and post intrusion of the Upper Cretaceous age and (2) the late mineralization deposited after the uplifting of granodiorite body near the surface in the Late Eocene.

Already since the regime change in 2010 Myanmar has re-staked its claim on the world stage. 2013 saw the hosting of the South East Asian Games and the World Economic Forum (East Asia) and 2014 the Chairmanship of ASEAN. Myanmar is blessed with abundant natural resources, a large and young workforce, wide-ranging investment opportunities, and a government that is determined to guide the country to a democratic, market-orientated economy. Nay Pyi Taw, the capital since 2005, has green credentials. It combines pleasing and interesting architecture, good landscaping and no traffic jams or pollution. Seated in the middle of the country, this government city is a hub with good air, road and rail connections. For the business community it offers first rate hotels, up to date convention centres and a fine new sports stadium. For the traveller there are many Caroline Courtauld Caroline local sights to enjoy and it is an excellent jumping-off point to explore the rest of Myanmar’s rich cultural heritage. For these reasons it is the ‘green’ city from which to engage in business and tourism.
