In conjunction with the visit, a meeting with the Latvian President Vaira Vike-Freiberga takes place. 21/06 Consultations on EU topics are held between the Estonian and Turkish Foreign Ministries in Tallinn. 21/06 Ministers’ Deputies Meeting of the Council of the Baltic Sea States (CBSS) takes place in the Estonian sea resort Laulasmaa, chaired by the Secretary General of the Estonian Ministry of Foreign Affairs, Priit Kolbre. 21/06 The 5th Baltic Sea States Summit takes place in Laulasmaa. At the summit, which is chaired by Prime Minister Juhan Parts, cooperation in the Baltic Sea region and the role of the CBSS in Europe after the enlargement of the EU are discussed. Poland assumes the Presidency of the CBSS. 21-25/06 The Parliamentary Assembly of the Council of Europe holds a plenary session in Strasbourg. One of the central issues is the election of the Secretary General of the Council of Europe. 3/08 The Latvian Foreign Minister, Artis Pabriks pays a working visit to Estonia. 15-17/08 The Hungarian President, Ferenc Mádl pays a working visit to Estonia in connection with the 4th World Congress of the Finno-Ugric peoples. 16/08 The Finnish President, Tarja Halonen attends the 4th World Congress of the Finno-Ugric peoples. 17/08 Estonia sends 95 soldiers to Kosovo to the Baltsqn-10 as part of the Danish battalion. In addition to Baltsqn-10, the Estonian multipurpose police platoon Estpatrol-10, plus five police officers, serves in Kosovo. The present contingent in Kosovo, 122 soldiers, is the largest Estonian peace-keeping contingent to date. 21/08 An Estonian delegation led by Ambassador Märt Volmer attends the conference of the Trade Ministers of the EU and the Barcelona process (EUROMED). 21-22/08 A 5-member delegation of the US Senate led by Senator John McCain pays a visit to Estonia.
