There are NO buyer's fees in this sale. What you bid is the most you will pay. 2. Bids are reduced to one increment over the second highest bid. Bidding increments are: for bids up to $50 the increment is $2, from $50 to $100 the increment is $5, from $100 to $250 the increment is $10, from $250 to $500 the increment is $25, from $500 to $2,500 the increment is $50, from $2,500 to $5,000 the increment is $250, from $5,000 to $10,000 the increment is $500, from $10,000 to $25,000 the increment is $1,000 and over $25,000 the increment is $2,500. 3. Postage and insurance will be added to all invoices with a minimum charge of $1.00 per item. Free shipping to those who pay by check. When you get your invoice simply sent a check for the total before shipping. 4. Invoices for delivery within South Carolina must pay 6% for South Carolina sales tax unless a resale number is supplied. Bidders from other states are responsible for paying any sales / use tax that may be required. 5. This is our third sale with Live Online Bidding. You can view and bid on all lots online at civilwartokens.com. If you plan to bid online you will need to register so don’t delay. As always let us know if you have any difficulty. Although the auction is staggered many lots will close within seconds so plan ahead and bid accordingly. See my Weekly Auction as the same web site. 6. If you choose, you may still bid by Mail, Fax, Phone and Email but bids must be received at least one day before the closing date of the sale. WE will enter these bids and act as your agent. These bids will be reflected in the online bidding with the User Name “mailbid”. If you bid in this manor please do not also bid online. 7. Bids for each lot can be entered at any time until that item closes as noted in online description with possible bidding extensions as noted below. There are no hidden reserves; the opening bid is the consignor’s reserve. 8. Closing times for each lot are automatically extended for 3 minutes if a bid is received within the last 3 minutes. This continues in 3 minute increment until no further bids are received for that item. If you bid with 4 minutes left the closing will still be in 4 minutes. But if you bid with 2 minutes left the closing will be in 5 minutes. And if you bid with one second left the closing will be in 3 minutes and one second. 9. Estimates which appear after the description are only a guide and lots will often be sold above and below those amounts. 10. You may FAX your bids to my regular number. When we are out of the office our phone will be set to receive FAX's or voice mail. Again these bids must be received at least one day before the closing date of the sale. 11. Returns will be accepted on any lots incorrectly described, however, since the majority of this material is consigned all sales will be considered final 14 days after lot delivery. 12. The auctioneer reserves the right to reject any bid or withdraw any lot. 13. Placing a bid in this sale constitutes acceptance of the above terms. In a NGC holder graded MS62. (200-300) 2 - 1/436 b R7 MS63 20% Bright more so on the obverse. 1863 United Country with scarce reverse die struck in Brass. (300-400) 3 - 3/373 b R6 EF+ Trace Bright. 1863 The Union For Ever struck in Brass by Koehler of Baltimore. Two very scarce dies, a FINE+ sold for $180.40 in our July 2007 sale. From the Steve Tanenbaum collection earlier from Russ Sears July 1995. (400-500) 4 - 5/288 a R2 EF+ God Protect The Union. (25-50) 5 - 6/268 a R1 MS64 10% Red mint luster. 1863 Union For Ever. In a NGC holder graded MS64 BN. (75-100) 6 - 6D/310 b R9 AU Trace Bright. 1863 Army & Navy struck in Brass. Very unusual as this is the only variety listed in the 6, 7 and 8 die family in anything other than Copper. Though listed as R9 we know of no other. From the Henry South collection earlier from our October 1999 sale where it realized $132. (200-300) 7 - 7B/313 a R10 VF From late obverse rusted die state as usual. 1863 Army & Navy. Rare die combination currently listed as Unique. There are likely four or five known all lower grade and late die state. (150-200) 8 - 9/211 a R6 VF+ Very scarce Indiana Primitive with Flag of the Union reverse. (100-150) 9 - 9/238 b R9 VF Or a bit better with a planchet flaw or scratch across the obverse. Rare Indiana Primitive token with Monitor reverse die struck in Brass. Very scarce die combination as the Copper variety is even rarer though called R8, a VF+ brought $792 in our October 2003 sale. (200-300) 10 - 9/298A a R7 VF+ Rare Indiana Primitive version of Scovill's 1863 Army & Navy die 10. (100-150) 11 - 9/405 a R6 EF A bit weak on reverse. The Constitution Must And Shall Be Preserved. (75-100) 12 - 22/442 a R2 MS62 Trace Red. 1863 New York. A common variety but rarely seen this nice, just the second Uncirculated example we have recorded. From the Steve Tanenbaum and Gary Pipher collections. (75-100) 13 - 26/418 g R9 MS63 Trace Bright with slightly porous surface as struck. 1863 Peace Forever with NORTH and SOUTH shaking hands. Very rare variety struck in Lead, a VF with residues brought $148.50 in our July 2009 auction. In a NGC holder graded MS63. (500-750) 14 - 31/279 a R6 VF 1863 Union 1863. Very scarce Patriotic dies, another VF sold for $88 in our December 2006 auction. From the Steve Tanenbaum collection earlier from Harold Rice in August 1974. (100-150) 15 - 36/340 a R2 AU+ Liberty and No Slavery. (75-100) 16 - 37/255 a R3 MS64 40% Red. 1863 For Public Accommodation Knickerbocker Currency. In a NGC holder graded MS64 RB. (75-100) 17 - 37/256 a R2 MS63 Trace Red and fairly well struck for combination. Horrors of War Blessings Of Peace 1863 For Public Accommodation. In a NGC holder graded MS63 BN. (100-150) 18 - 41/337 a R2 MS65 Trace Red struck from worn dies as usual. 1863 Our Navy. In a NGC holder graded MS65 BN. (100-150) 19 - 42/336 a R4 MS63 Trace Red from early die state with no die crack or cud. Our Navy 1864 Liberty Cap. Very scarce this nice. In a NGC holder graded MS63 BN. (150-200) 20 - 46/339 a R1 MS66 Trace Red with bisecting reverse die crack. Liberty 1864 with shield. In a NGC holder graded MS66 BN but called 43/339 in error. (200-300) 21 - 46/339 a R1 MS64 60% Red. Liberty 1864 with shield. In a NGC holder graded MS64 RB. (150-200) 22 - 46/339 a R1 MS63 Trace Red with bisecting reverse die crack. Liberty 1864 with shield. In a NGC holder graded MS63 BN. (75-100) 23 - 46/339 b R7 MS64 Or a bit better with 70% Bright luster and a sharp early die state. Liberty 1864 with shield struck in Brass. In a NGC holder graded MS64. (500-750) 24 - 47/332 a R1 MS64 20% Red mostly on the obverse on a seemingly larger than normal planchet. Very attractive. Liberty 1864 Our Army.
