Nuestro loado foro de Guitarramania.com siempre nos sorprende con nuevas noticias del mundillo, máxime teniendo un hilo de los TMV kilométrico que alberga numerosas noticias de esta banda supersónica. Anteriormente hemos tenido oportunidad de asistir a un concierto de The Mars Volta y ver a su nuevo batería en su puesto. Sin embargo no nos esperábamos una demostración de esta envergadura. Y es que nos ha sorprendido gratamente que Thomas Pridgen, batería de The Mars Volta, haya tenido la oportunidad de colgar un vídeo de estas características en la red. Una demostración de que la tecnología y el arte, la música e internet, se fusionan a diario para sorprendernos con nuevas iniciativas mediáticas. En esta ocasión se trata de un video de larga duración, donde podemos elegir qué cámara nos interesa más. La página en cuestión , con el link que os dejo a la demostración del mago Pridgen , que sin hacernos deja mucho boquiabiertos , trata los aspectos musicales, en este caso de la batería, desde un punto de vista plástico. Durante más de siete minutos nuestro hábil músico rezuma frescor y aglutina un buen número de ritmos y distintas formas de entender el mundo de la batería. No se pierdan el solo de Pridgen desde los distintos puntos de vista. Una cámara general, otra cámara aérea y otra de pie. Quizás ésta última nos da a los que no tenemos el placer de asistir a estas demostraciones de virtuosismo, la oportunidad de contemplar desde una perspectiva distinta, alucinados , cómo se mueve como pez en el agua un batería del calibre de Thomas Pridgen ( fíjense cómo se descalza del pie derecho nada más tomar asiento).

Das Studierendenparla- M mant (StuPa) hat mit Milos Rodatos einen neuen Präsidenten gewählt und auch gleich eine neue Struktur für den Allgemeinen Studierendenausschusses (AStA) beschlos- sen. Ebenso wurde der Vorsitz in eben diesem Organ nach einem Jahr wieder besetzt. In Zukunft wird Felix Pawlowski FOTO: JOHANNES KÖPC den AStA zusammenhalten. Auch in der Universitätsmedizin sind die letzten Umzüge der Kliniken fast abgeschlossen und im Hafen in der Innenstadt arbeitet man an der Sanierung der Museumswerft. Beim moritz hatten wir auch Lust auf etwas Frühjahrsputz. Im Layout haben wir spontan einige Änderungen vorgenom- men. Zum Beispiel wurden mal schnell die Kurznachrichten gestrichen und durch eine Open-Space-Seite ersetzt, die jeder Ressortleiter individuell befüllen kann. Zudem haben wir kurz vor Druck noch einen Posten neu vergeben. Unter anderem gibt es endlich wieder eine stellvertretende Chefredakteurin bleiben anregen. Dafür haben wir für euch im Titel-Thema für das Magazin: In der Sitzung des Studierendenparlamen- Ausflugsziele innerhalb und außerhalb Greifswalds geprüft. tes am 8. Noctourniquet blev till i klassisk Mars Volta stil, Omar Rodriquez-Lopez och Cedrik Bixler-Zavala har skrivit text och musik. Albumet producerades av Omar Rodriquez-Lopez. Det tretton låtar långa verket innehåller utsvävningar och nya ljudbilder för bandet som nu har skapat tillsammans i tjugo år. Det spektrum av musikaliska och känslomässiga texturer som albumet är uppbyggt av är skapade av Rodriquez-Lopez. Från det bombastiska öppningsspåret “The Whip Hand” till de hotfulla tonerna från “Malkin Jewel” som avbryts med hypnotiska melodier. Det djärva mångfaldet i det nya materialet i kombination med Rodriquez-Lopez säkra hand bakom spakarna banar ny väg för bandet. Noctourniquet är Mars Volta’s mest självsäkra och raffinerande föreställning hittils. Som tidigare är Bixler-Zavala’stexter en komplicerad blandning av en resa i det okända, inspirerade av bland annat åttiotalets brittiska rockscen, Stålmannens nemesis Solomon Grundy och den grekiska mytologins Hyacinthus. Mars Volta har vunnit en Grammy för “Best Hard Rock Performance” för låten Wax Simulacra 2009, och har utnämnts till bästa prog rockband av tidningen Rolling Stone. De har spelat i Sverige åtta gånger, varav en gång som förband till Red Hot Chili Peppers.
