PSNC’s regular round up of health & care news and policy Although the NHS reforms legally came into force on April 1st, anyone working in the health service will know that the transformation on the ground is still very much a work in progress and changes continue apace. Keeping up with all the latest developments could almost be a full time job and PSNC regularly receives questions from LPCs and pharmacy contractors about what is going on in the wider health and care landscape beyond community pharmacy. To help answer some of these questions and to help contractors and LPCs stay up to date, PSNC has launched a new update service outlining the latest information in an easily digestible format. Weekly up- dates will be published on our website and contractors can ensure they do not miss them by signing up to PSNC’s email newsletter service at: http://psnc.org.uk/latest-news/email-sign-up/ The reviews extend the work we have been doing for some time to help LPCs stay informed about the NHS changes, and they will inform the more detailed PSNC briefings which we will continue to publish on this topic. Thanks to pharmaceutical company funding we were able to offer an MUR+ project to our HLPs in the East Staffs and South East and Seisdon CCG areas. We had excellent feedback about the training but are sorry to say that the MUR+ project is very slow in taking off. Can I appeal to those of you involved to complete the following steps (if you haven’t already) – pass the CPPE e-assessment on asthma and send a copy of your certificate either electronically to [email protected] or by post to the LPC office, log on to PharmOutcomes and complete the feedback on the training nights. This is all you need to do to be accredited to deliver the MUR+ service. Simply recruit patients for an NHS MUR, fill in the details on PharmOutcomes and then when you do your 3 month follow up review with that patient and put the details on the system you will be paid £10 per patient (in addition to the NHS fee you were paid for the initial MUR). If you are an HLP or working towards HLP accreditation and are in East or SES CCG areas but missed the training - you can still be part of this service – I am running more inhaler technique events through CPPE so book on to one of these in Cannock, Stafford or Keele – places are limited and filling up fast so please register via the CPPE website as soon as you can.
