This is an initiative of the Oceania Swimming Association and The Reporters’ Academy which has been brought to fruition with the !nancial support of our friends from the Asian Swimming Federation. While the Paci!c Island federations are small and struggling against many constraints, they are all proud to have representation at the World Championships. For their swimmers (and coaches) this is the chance of a lifetime to rub shoulders against the best in the world, and to meet their swimming idols. Competing in the same pool as the best is bound to bring about personal best performances from them, and in many cases, national records. The partnership with The Reporters’ Academy will also ensure delivery of news and articles to Paci!c Islands media on their countries swimmers’ experience in Barcelona, not just from a performance perspective, but also on how they handle being at the World Championships with all the hype and excitement around the event. Through this partnership, articles, website updates, videos and interviews will be available for the region’s media to access, so raising the pro!le of swim- ming in the countries from where the swimmers come. I wish our swimmers all the best success at these World Championships, and once again thank the Asian Swimming Federation for their !nancial support of this media guide. Also my sincere thanks to FINA and the World Championships Organising Committee for their assistance for travel and accommodation of our teams here.” Dennis Milller, President of The Oceania Swimming Association THE 15TH FINA WORLD SWIMMING CHAMPIONSHIPS 2013 MEDIA GUIDE Our Media Support On location in Barcelona UK Support Team Alice McApline Glyn McGuire Lou, Mike & Cat Katy Atkinson Barcelona World Champs Team: General Media Inquiries & Requests +447717377647 +447884173778 [email protected] [email protected] [email protected] The rationale behind partnering with The Reporters’ Academy UK is that since 2009 the Paci!c Islands Sports family has been working with this dynamic group of young journalists and media personnel to deliver the stories of our athletes to the world, from pre Olympic Games Training Camps in the UK leading up to the 2012 Olympic Games and throughout the Olympic Games in London last year. It was only logical for the Oceania Swimming Association to join hands again with the Academy to tell the stories of our swimmers performing on the world stage this sum- mer in Barcelona.
