In 250 wines, 33 grape musts and 45 musts in fermentation, no limit values were exceeded, but in some cases high levels (>0.100 mg/L) of single residues were found, meaning that a reduction of these levels before bottling could make sense. In the course of this study, a white and a red wine were spiked with a mix of 23 pesticide residues from the group of fungicides (including botryticides), herbicides and insecticides. The influence of the following treatments on residue concentrations and volatile profiles were investigated: two activated charcoal products, a bentonite clay, two commercial mixed fining agents made of bentonite and charcoal, two yeast cell wall products, and a plant fiber-based novel filter additive. The results of this study show that all the agents tested reduced both residues and volatile compounds in wine, with activated charcoal having the strongest effect and bentonite the Citation: Philipp, C.; Eder, P.; weakest. Dr. Kurt Finger, der mich auf einen Text von Ludo Moritz Hartmann mit dem Titel „Demokratie und Volksbildung“ (1921) aufmerksam machte. Die darin angesprochene Verbindung von demokratischen Implikationen für die Erwachsenenbildung in ihren Anfängen um die Jahrhundertwende vom 19. zum 20. Jahrhundert weckte mein Interesse, und veranlasste mich, mich auf eine pädagogische Spurensuche und -sicherung zu begeben. Die Relevanz dieses historischen Themas ankerte in der Frage, ob und inwieweit die Hartmannsche Bildungsidee für die gegenwärtige Erwachsenbildung einerseits ein Korrektiv darstellen könne und andererseits das Potenzial innehat, diese neu zu inspirieren. Ich bedanke mich bei Mag. Dr. Kurt Finger für die anregenden und inspirierenden Diskussionen sowie die ausgezeichnete, geduldige Betreuung. Besonderer Dank gilt Herrn Direktor Mag. Christian H. STEFFEN HÖIINE Moritz Hartrnanns Krieg um den ~14~i1d Zur literarischen Verarbeitung von Vormärz und 48er Revolution Der von Moritz Hartmann als Historie bezeichnete Krieg um den Wald1 steht am Schnittpunkt von Vormärz-, Revolutions- und Exilerfahrungen, wie sie für viele Künstler und Intellektuelle zur Zeit der Bürgerlichen Revolution nicht nur in Öster reich typisch waren. Die Erzählung thematisiert soziale, politische und religiöse Konflikte und läßt sich als das Resümee eines enttäuschten Revolutionärs lesen, dessen persönliche Hoffnungen und Erwartungen im gerade für den österreichi schen Raum typischen Zusammenwirken von Gegenrevolution und Nationalitäten- streit ohne Chancen blieben.2 Hartmann ist heute eine Randfigur der Literatur wie der Literaturwissenschaft. An Biographie und Werk dieses Autors lassen sich aber nicht nur die typischen Zeitkonflikte ablesen, Hartmann wurde darüber hinaus von seinen Zeitgenossen durchaus als ein führender Repräsentant der links-liberalen Opposition anerkannt. Gemeinsam mit anderen deutsch-böhmischen und österreichischen Dichtern wählte er das ‘freiwillige‘ Exil zuerst in Deutschland (ab 1844 auf Lenaus Rat in Leipzig) und später in Brüssel und Paris. In dieser Zeit erschien Hartmanns erste, in weiten Kreisen beachtete Gedichtsarnrnlung Kelch 1/lid Schwert (1844). Hartmanns Wirkung erstreckt sich als Mitglied der als Jung-Österreich oder Junges Österreichs bezeich neten Gruppierung allerdings nicht nur auf die Dichtung, sondern er stand als Revolutionär selbst an exponierter Stelle im Zentrum der -

The first was to present, in Jerusalem, research on cultural transfer which has been conducted for over ten years by Michael Werner and Michel Espagne and their colleagues in Paris. The second was an attempt to apply their methods and relate some of their findings to both pre and post-state Israel. The conference was organized jointly by three institutions: the Franz Rosenzweig Center of the Hebrew University of Jerusalem, the CNRS-UMR 85471, and the CRFJ. It is well known that Jews were among those who promoted cultural transfers in nineteenth century Europe and the first third of the twentieth century; hence the focus of the conference was on this heterogeneous group. The lectures, which were also made available in simultaneous translation, fall into two periods – the nineteenth and the twentieth century – and two directions – within Europe, and towards Palestine and Israel. -

Zur Geschichte der Bildung in Deutschland Bibliotheks- und Informationssystem der Universität Oldenburg 1987 VORWORT Die Daten der bürgerlichen Revolution in Frankreich und Deutschland - die Jahre 1789 und 1848 - sind die Eckpunkte für das Vorhaben, in sechs Portraitsskizzen verschiedene persönliche und darin doch typische Ausformungen von Bil- dung dem Leser dieser Schrift vorzustellen. Dennoch sind die Ausführungen mehr als nur ein Blick zurück in die Ge- schichte. Sie sind der Versuch, die soziale wie die individu- elle Komponente von Bildung herauszuarbeiten und Bildung als etwas für den Einzelnen außerordentlich bedeutsames aufzuweisen. Mit dem Vortrag Wer war der gebildete Deutsche? wurde das Pädagogische Forum eröffnet. In dieser Veranstaltungsform stellt der Fachbereich 1 Pädagogik der Universität Oldenburg Themen und Sachverhalte aus den Bereichen Bildung und Erziehung, Schule und Unterricht, Sonderpädagogik, Sozialarbeit und Weiterbildung zur Diskussion, um sie einer über die engen Fachgrenzen hinaus interessierten Öffent- lichkeit vorzustellen. Wir veröffentlichen den Vortrag von Hans-Dietrich Raapke zu einem Zeitpunkt, da an der Universität Oldenburg das erste deutsch-deutsche Wissenschaftssymposion an einer bun- desrepublikanischen Hochschule stattfindet. Die Frage nach den Perspektiven von Bildung und Erziehung in einer sich wandelnden Gesellschaft wird im Gedankenaustausch der Wissenschaftler eine besondere Rolle spielen. STAGING THE NATION, STAGING DEMOCRACY: THE POLITICS OF COMMEMORATION IN GERMANY AND AUSTRIA, 1918-1933/34 By Erin Regina Hochman A thesis submitted in conformity with the requirements for the degree of Doctor of Philosophy Graduate Department of History University of Toronto © Copyright by Erin Regina Hochman 2010 Staging the Nation, Staging Democracy: The Politics of Commemoration in Germany and Austria 1918-1933/34 Erin Regina Hochman Doctor of Philosophy Department of History University of Toronto 2010 Between 1914 and 1919, Germans and Austrians experienced previously unimaginable sociopolitical transformations: four years of war, military defeat, the collapse of the Hohenzollern and Habsburg monarchies, the creation of democratic republics, and the redrawing of the map of Central Europe. Through an analysis of new state symbols and the staging of political and cultural celebrations, this dissertation explores the multiple and conflicting ways in which Germans and Austrians sought to reconceptualize the relationships between nation, state and politics in the wake of the First World War. Whereas the political right argued that democracy was a foreign imposition, supporters of democracy in both countries went to great lengths to refute these claims. In particular, German and Austrian republicans endeavored to link their fledgling democracies to the established tradition of großdeutsch nationalism – the idea that a German nation-state should include Austria – in an attempt to legitimize their embattled republics. By using nineteenth-century großdeutsch symbols and showing continued support for an Anschluss (political union) even after the Entente forbade it, republicans hoped to create a transborder German national community that would be compatible with a democratic body politic.
