  • Prezimena Mjesta Murtera
Autor osim popisa svih dostupnih prezimena u svim epohama donosi i prikaz njihova nastanka, distribucije i značenja.

  • Analysis of Facebook Use by Local Government in Croatia
Ivana ANDRIJAŠEVIĆ* STILL NOT THERE WHERE THE PEOPLE ARE1: ANALYSIS OF FACEBOOK USE BY LOCAL GOVERNMENT IN CROATIA Abstract. This paper examines Facebook use by local municipal governments in Croatia, focusing on two aspects: municipalities’ activities and citizens’ engage- ment. Between 1 October 2016 and 30 November 2016, data from all 428 municipalities in the country were col- lected and analysed. The key results are that: (1) munici- palities’ adoption of Facebook is quite modest, with just 153 (35.75%) Croatian municipalities maintaining a Facebook page; (2) municipalities’ activity on Facebook is low: during the period under observation on average all municipalities posted 0.39 (SD = 0.42) posts per work- ing day, namely 2 posts a week; (3) citizens’ engagement is generally low: the average value of popularity is signif- 1040 icantly higher than commitment and virality, suggesting that liking is the most popular way citizens interact on Facebook. These findings suggest that Croatian munici- palities should make greater efforts to embrace today’s new communication tools and step into the digital arena so as to be present where the people are. Keywords: social media, Facebook, local municipal gov- ernment, engagement, Croatia Introduction In the last few decades, new information and telecommunication tech- nologies have irreversibly altered the way the world communicates. The tipping point in this change was the adoption of social media as a commu- nication tool in everyday life. In this article, we regard social media as “a group of Internet-based applications that build on the ideological and tech- nological foundations of Web 2.0, and that allow the creation and exchange of User Generated Content” (Kaplan and Haenlein, 2010: 61).

  • Methods of Multivariate Analysis to Uncover Socio-Economic Differences Among Spatial-Economics Entities
METHODS OF MULTIVARIATE ANALYSIS TO UNCOVER SOCIO-ECONOMIC DIFFERENCES AMONG SPATIAL-ECONOMICS ENTITIES Paper prepared for the 45th Congress of the European Regional Science Association Volos, Greece, August 30th-Semptember 3rd, 2006 Ivana Rasic Bakaric Institute of Economics Zagreb Trg. J. F. Kennedya 7, 10000 Zagreb, Croatia [email protected] Abstract Main aim of regional policy is to reduce regional disparities. There is now doubt that action to tackle regional disparities is needed in Croatia. Main problem is the definition of region as a subject of regional policy. After discussion about definition of region and main criteria which should be considered during the process of establishment of regions, the paper will present one of the methodologies for spatial-economic entities' classification. The methodology will be used on the working sample of several Croatian counties. The classification will be obtained through use of multivariate statistical methods, and it is based on a wide number of demographic, economic, educations, employment indicators. Results leads to the identification of several axes of socio- economic characterisation, and the division of the observed territory into several homogenous clusters, regions with different degree of development. The main conclusion is that socio-economic reorients uncovered with this methodology provide useful characterisation and division of the territory, for policy making purpose. JEL Classification: C49, R12, R58 Keywords: homogeneous regions, factor and cluster analysis, regional policy 1 Introduction A precondition to formulating implementing and monitoring of regional policy measures is the existence of established regional boundaries. Division proposals depend on criteria used. Politicians and various professions use different criteria, in order to achieve the optimal territorial structure that could enable same or at least similar effects of certain policy measures within the same territorial unit, and could be easily monitored.

NEWSLETTER Zagreb l Smičiklasova 21 doi: 10.3326/nle.2018.115 [email protected] l www.ijf.hr l tel: +385(0)1 4886 444 No. 115 l July 2018 l ISSN 1848-4662 Budget transparency in Croatian counties, cities and municipalities 1 (November 2017 - March 2018) KATARINA OTT, MIHAELA BRONIĆ, MIROSLAV PETRUŠIĆ, BRANKO STANIĆ The overall average level of budget transparency in Croatian counties, cities and municipalities, measured by the number of budget documents published on their respective official websites, stands at 3.52 (out of a possible 5). The number of budget documents published has grown year by year in all types of local government units, averaging 4.9 in counties, 4 in cities and 3.3 in municipalities in this research cycle. For the first time, there are no cities without at least one budget document published, or municipalities without an official website. However, despite the improvements in average results achieved, differences among individual local units, notably municipalities, are still huge. A large number of cities and the bulk of municipalities will have to intensify their efforts to comply with their legal obligations and recommendations of the Ministry of Finance in this respect. While the publishing of budget documents does not in itself guarantee absolute transparency, it should still be prescribed and encouraged, because it is the first step towards achieving higher transparency levels necessary for citizens' participation in the budget process. More detailed results for all counties, cities and municipalities are given later in the text and are available on an interactive map and in an Excel table format.

Chapter 3 Rural tourism in the surroundings of Krka National Park: factors of development and spatial impacts Petra Radeljak Kaufmann Abstract This chapter focuses on the development of rural tourism in the area surrounding Krka National Park, situated in northern Dalmatia. Via various functions, especially tourism and recrea- tion, protected areas can influence local development. Since the 1960s, settlements in the surroundings of Krka National Park have faced challenges related to depopulation and socio-econom- ic development. The goal of this chapter is to analyse factors of re- cent intense development of rural tourism, its spatial impacts in the immediate vicinity of the Park, and various potentials for fur- ther development. These trends should be looked at in the frame- work of tourism development of the Park itself, as well as tour- ism development trends in the interior of Dalmatia. A case study of the Town of Drniš was conducted to closely examine recent trends and the potential for development of rural tourism in the near future. • EU Grants to Croatian Counties, Cities and Municipalities 2015-20161
NEWSLETTER Zagreb l Smičiklasova 21 doi: 10.3326/nle.2018.114 [email protected] l www.ijf.hr l tel: +385(0)1 4886 444 No. 114 l May 2018 l ISSN 1848-4662 EU grants to Croatian counties, cities and municipalities 2015-20161 KATARINA OTT, MIHAELA BRONIĆ, BRANKO STANIĆ This article aims to provide basic information on the grants received by Croatian counties, cities and municipalities as holders of, or partners/participants in the programmes and projects (co)financed by the EU in 2015 and 2016. It provides a synthesis of data also presented in a database that enables detailed analysis and comparison with previous years. Reference is made to the data sources and some easily noticeable curiosities are highlighted. In the period 2015-2016, counties, cities and municipalities received almost one billion kuna in EU grants, much more than in previous years. Almost half of that amount was utilized by counties, about one third by cities and less than a fifth by municipalities. It is noteworthy, however, that almost half of cities and over three quarters of municipalities used no grants at all in the reference period. EU GRANTS European Union grants (EU funds) are intended to (co)finance specific projects and programmes used for the promotion and implementation of particular EU policies (e.g. regional development, employment, social inclusion, research and innovation, etc.). The bulk of the grants is allocated in collaboration with the national and regional authorities from five major funds (the so-called European structural and investment funds – ESI), and the rest goes to the recipients directly.
