Coaching Staff Tim Loesch Head Coach Tim Loesch is entering his fourth season as the Limestone head volleyball coach. During his tenure the team has seen a dramatic turnaround, going from last to first in the conference standings. After inheriting a program with a 17-158 NCAA record, Loesch has posted a 53- 50 record for the Saints. In his initial season of 2004, Loesch coached Limestone to its highest win total (7) since joining the NCAA. During 2005, his Lady Saints broke this record for most victories as the team recorded 19 wins, and set another for conference wins with 9. The campaign was the first winning season for Limestone volleyball since joining the NCAA and Carolinas-Virginia Athletics Conference. During 2006, Loesch guided the team to their best season ever, posting a 27-9 overall record and an 18-2 conference record, including a regular season conference title and a runner-up finish in the CVAC tournament. Loesch was named conference Coach of the Year following the season. Loesch’s Limestone players have earned many honors, including seven conference Players of the Week, six All-Conference players, two conference All-Tournament team players, and one All-Region Player. Before coming to Limestone, Loesch had success coaching at the high school, Junior Olympic and college levels. He began his coaching career as an assistant at Charlotte Country Day School where his efforts yielded otw conference championships and two third place finishes in the state playoffs. Next, he coached at Peace College, helping the team achieve its first winning sea- son ever. He then coached at Butler High School, where he also posted a winning record and earned two state-playoff berths. Loesch has coached Junior Olympic club volleyball during the off-season for 10 years, first at Carolina Juniors Volleyball of Charlotte, N.C., and then at Club South Volleyball in Spartanburg, S.C.. His club teams have won numerous tournaments, three regional championships and two regional runner-up finishes, earning bids to the Junior Olympic National Championships. He holds USA Volleyball Coaching Accreditation Program level II, American Sport Education Program, American Coaching Effectiveness Program and IMPACT coaching credentials. He has coached in the USA Volleyball High Performance regional program and is a voter on the American Volleyball Coaches Association Division II Top 25 National Poll. In addition he has hosted or assisted at numerous clinics, camps, and tournaments throughout the Southeast. He has played competitively on USA Volleyball teams for over ten years. Heather Sulkowski Assistant Coach Heather Sulkowski joined the Lady Saints coaching staff in the summer of 2007. Sulkows- ki is familiar with Loesch’s philosophies, as he coached her at Peace College in Raleigh, N.C. In addition, she served as assistant coach, Fellowship of Christian Athletes sponsor, Student Athlete Advisory Committee sponsor, Student Interven- tion Team sponsor and Athletic Operations Manager at her alma mater. While coaching at Peace, Sulkowski’s teams constantly improved and were consistently competitive. Her first season coaching was a rebuilding year, followed by the school’s debut as a USA South Athletic Conference member, the first all-female institution in North Caroli- na ever to do so. In Sulkowski’s final three years, she coached Peace to at least 12 wins every season, along with a fourth and sixth place finish in the highly competitive USA South. During her coaching tenure at Peace, Sulkowski’s players set numerous school records, earned several All-Tournament awards, were named to the All-Conference team twice, and ten athletes earned Academic All-Conference awards. She leaves a strong nucleus of returning players for her successor as well as a solid list of commitments for the 2007 season. Sulkowski’s athletic ability in high school earned her scholarships in basketball and volleyball at in Wilson, N.C.. She started in both sports as a true freshman, earning the Coaches Award during the best season ever for Barton volley- ball. She also received the William Gear Spencer Award honoring her athletic success in multiple sports and in the classroom. As a sophomore, Sulkowski was named All-Conference in volleyball and to the All-Tournament team in basketball. She finished her collegiate athletic career at Peace College where she played volleyball for two seasons and basketball for one season, earning MVP honors in both sports. Conference Commissioner Dr. Alan Patterson says this about the conference, “Conference Carolinas is recognized regionally and nationally as a premier NCAA Division II conference which champions scholarship athletics working in concert with student athletes committed to academic success.” Conference Carolinas has roots in the Old North State Conference formed in 1938. The name changed to the Caroli- nas Conference with the first inclusion of South Carolina members, and in 1994 became the Carolinas-Virginia Athletics Conference as Virginia membership was included and championship play was shifted to NCAA Division II. Since 2003, no conference schools have been located in Virginia. Since Virginia is no longer represented within the conference, a name change to “Conference Carolinas” was recommended and was implemented for the 2007-2008 academic year.

Limestone College has some of the finest facilities in the Conference Carolinas and in NCAA Division II. In October of 2005, Limestone College fin- ished construction and officially opened the new Physical Education Center. The new facility offers three classrooms, nine offices, locker rooms, Athletic Training Education facilities, the state-of-the-art Watts Fitness Center, and a practice facility for wrestling. Located on Thompson Street near Lime- stone Springs, the facility is the first new building constructed on the Limestone cam- pus since the Timken Center was dedicated Physical Education Center 30 years ago. The Physical Education Center gives Limestone’s recently accredited Ath- letic Training Education Program the neces- sary space to meet the accreditation stan- dards of the Commission on Accreditation of Athletic Training Education. This will allow Limestone students to take the Na- tional Athletic Trainers Association Board of Certification Examination. In addition to the new Athletic Train- ing facilities, the new PE Center houses a 3,900 square-foot weight training facility, Wrestling Room Weight Room of the Watts Fitness Center the Watts Fitness Center, a great asset to all of Limestone’s varsity athletes as well as all other students, faculty, and staff. Limestone’s wrestling team, which completed its inaugural season in 2004-2005, has a practice area and locker room in the new building, although the team holds its matches in the Timken Center. The Timken Center, built in 1976, is the center of the Athletic Department. The Timken Center houses Tim- ken Gym, a 1,500-seat arena that hosts men’s and women’s basketball games, as well as volleyball and wrestling matches. Limestone’s Aquatic Center, a junior Olympic sized swim- ming pool, is also located in the Timken Center. Home to the Saints and Lady Saints swimming teams, the pool features an 800-square-foot observation balcony, coupled with 2,500 square feet of deck space. The building also houses athletic offices, locker rooms, and classrooms.
