In the years between the two World Wars the concept became more political in nature: after Estonia, Latvia and Lithuania obtained their independence in 1918 the region gradually became understood as the geographical entity made up of these three republics. Although the Baltic region is geographically fairly homogeneous, each of the newly restored republics possesses unique geographical and strategic features.

  • Analysis of the Indicators of the Cadastral Value Base for Residential Building Land in Latvia
ANALYSIS OF THE INDICATORS OF THE CADASTRAL VALUE BASE FOR RESIDENTIAL BUILDING LAND IN LATVIA Anda Jankava, Aina Palabinska, Dace Didrihsone Latvia University of Agriculture Abstract This article describes the indicators of the base of cadastral value and their main influencing factors. The base of cadastral value for residential building is summarised and analysed in Latvia municipalities and its territorial units in 2015. The analysis results showed areas with the highest and lowest base of cadastral value for residential building in municipalities of Latvia. Also grouping and analysis of municipalities by the maximum and minimum base of cadastral value for residential building land in rural areas were carried out. There is clear polarisation of base value by the distribution between the municipalities. In municipalities around Riga there are areas with the highest base value of residential building land, whereas the base value decreases rapidly in the direction from Riga to the periphery. Key words: cadastral assessment, indicators of the cadastral value base, value zoning, base value. Introduction In Latvia, the cadastral valuation of real property is carried out in order to determine the cadastral value of the real property which is mainly used in the calculation of real property tax. In the need of cadastral valuation, the State Land Service drew up the cadastral value base by real property groups.. The cadastral value base is a set of data characterising the value necessary for calculation of the cadastral value – base values and correction coefficients, which, on the basis of analysis of data of the real estate market, has been specified for the group of cadastre objects in terms of values within a relatively homogenous territory – zone (National Real Estate ..., 2005.).

To compensate for this apparent injustice, Kommersant Vlast analytical weekly has compiled The Entire Russian Fleet directory. It is especially topical since even Russia’s Commander-in-Chief compared himself to a slave on the galleys a week ago. The directory lists all 238 battle ships and submarines of Russia’s Naval Fleet, with their board numbers, year of entering service, name and rank of their commanders. It also contains the data telling to which unit a ship or a submarine belongs. For first-class ships, there are schemes and tactic-technical characteristics. So detailed data on all Russian Navy vessels, from missile cruisers to base type trawlers, is for the first time compiled in one directory, making it unique in the range and amount of information it covers. The Entire Russian Fleet carries on the series of publications devoted to Russia’s armed forces. Vlast has already published similar directories about the Russian Army (#17-18 in 2002, #18 in 2003, and #7 in 2005) and Russia’s military bases (#19 in 2007).

ADONIS:CE is applied commonly for business processes modelling, however, in this study case was applied in an ecology/biology sphere of interest. The authors acquired a Bitterling model which contained all of the identified habitat species’ necessities, the specific indicators that give good preservation status and the present pressures and threats. The keeping of the riverbed morphodynamics is especially necessary – the meanders existence is significant for the aquatic mollusc species which are existing in the inner U shape sectors of the lotic systems. The sectors, where the sand and mud are relatively fixed, give appropriate habitats for molluscs which is valuable for the reproduction of Bitterling. The preserving of the present water oxygenation and regime of liquid flows, and the prevention of the sediments deposition rate in the aquatic habitats are needed too for the molluscs’ existence. The sediments exploitation in these lotic systems should be realised in relation with the natural rate of renewal and at sites at a distance over five km between them.

International Journal of Environmental Research and Public Health Article Long-Term Trends in Water Quality Indices in the Lower Danube and Tributaries in Romania (1996–2017) Rodica-Mihaela Frîncu 1,2 1 National Institute for Research and Development in Chemistry and Petrochemistry—ICECHIM, 202 Splaiul Independentei, 060021 Bucharest, Romania; [email protected]; Tel.: +40-21-315-3299 2 INCDCP ICECHIM Calarasi Branch, 2A Ion Luca Caragiale St., 910060 Calarasi, Romania Abstract: The Danube River is the second longest in Europe and its water quality is important for the communities relying on it, but also for supporting biodiversity in the Danube Delta Biosphere Reserve, a site with high ecological value. This paper presents a methodology for assessing water quality and long-term trends based on water quality indices (WQI), calculated using the weighted arithmetic method, for 15 monitoring stations in the Lower Danube and Danube tributaries in Romania, based on annual means of 10 parameters for the period 1996–2017. A trend analysis is carried out to see how WQIs evolved during the studied period at each station. Principal component analysis (PCA) is applied on sub-indices to highlight which parameters have the highest contributions to WQI values, and to identify correlations between parameters. Factor analysis is used to highlight differences between locations. The results show that water quality has improved significantly at most stations during the studied period, but pollution is higher in some Romanian tributaries than in the Danube. The parameters with the highest contribution to WQI are ammonium and total phosphorus, suggesting the need to continue improving wastewater treatment in the studied area.

CHURCH LIFE NEVER DISAPPEARED - BOOK ON BAPTIST HISTORY IN THE RUSSIAN ENCLAVE OF KALININGRAD PUBLSHED by William Yoder Dr. William Yoder, long time member of the REE Editorial Advisory Council, and living in Europe since the mid 1970s, writes regular news releases from Moscow in English and German for the Russian Baptist Union and the Russian Evangelical Alliance. Very likely the first Russian-language book dealing with Baptist life in the once-German Soviet enclave of Kaliningrad (German East Prussia) after 1945 appeared recently. Its author is Anatoly Krikun, the current Baptist Bishop (called “Starshy Presbyter”) of Kaliningrad/Königsberg. Publisher is the “Russian Union of Evangelical Christians-Baptists” and the “Moscow Baptist Theological Seminary”.
