COURSE DESCRIPTION

Students will act as the staff for a 24-HR 7-day-a-week radio station. Each student will produce their own regularly scheduled show as well as act as DJ for live broadcast shows and be actively involved in producing audio content for the station. This course is a prerequisite for II.

Rationale KPLY- Paly Radio was initially created by students as a club in the 2013 school year. In the 2015 year, the club was integrated into Broadcast Journalism to allow the students more time to work on projects. It was also in 2015 that equipment was purchased and KPLY live, broadcast 24 hours a day, 7 days-per-week. This school year, the class is also integrated into Broadcast Journalism, but the curriculum is quite different and being coupled with the TV Broadcast program during the same class period is a disservice to the students who deserve more time focused on them by the instructor.
