The current volume covers the 1990’s, and involves these holidays: 1990 in Australia and Fiji; 1992 mainly in Austria, Czech Republic, England, France and Germany; and 1998 in England and Scotland. Recent decades have been a success story for this middle-sized Southern German city. Since the mid-1950s Freiburg has experien- ced big growth in both population (ca. 62%) and in the number of workplaces. This trend has continued in the last two decades (ca. 17%), which is not common among German cities. One of the results of growing popu- lation is a growing demand for transportation. The situation has forced the city to find a balance between the rising number of cars and the assurance of a high quality of life to attract new inhabitants and new investors, mostly in high-tech industries. The most important tool is an efficient and environmentally friendly transport system, called “ecomobility” (German: “Umweltverbund”). It consists of: walking, cycling, public transport and car sharing. A key role in ecomobility is played by public transport. The paper presents the history of transport policy in Freiburg, the development of public transport and evaluates the main keys to its success, like “flat rate” tickets, integration between public transport and urban planning and modern systems of sub- urban railways.

(Criterion 1.2) Asquith Bridge in its natural forest setting, above the Murray River and overlooking the adjoining valley, contributes to the aesthetic values of the natural landscape, provides a focal point to the forest landscape and also an important viewing platform for enjoying the surrounding natural bushland setting. HISTORIC VALUE Asquith Bridge is one of the last extant railway bridges of timber trestle construction built in Western Australia in the twentieth century and one of the most substantial. (Criterion 2.1) Asquith Bridge was built 1949-52 as part of the Western Australian Government Railways (WAGR) railway extension for development of the Asquith Timber Concession in the post-World War II period, thus enabling new timber concessions to be available when timber was in short supply. BPR had a variety of narrow gauge train options available - railcar, diesel hauled and steam hauled trains. BPRs narrow gauge locomotives and rolling stock collection was sourced as redundant from other states of Australia, including Queensland, Tasmania, and South Australia. This video clip focussed on the activities of an ex-South Australian Railways T class steam locomotive T251 which hauled a consist of red and yellow, ex-Tasmanian Government Railways carriages. The video clip concludes with an ex-Tasmanian Government Railways railcar departing from the Queenscliff Railway Station.
