LAUGINIGER AND EUGENE F. HARTSTEIN NEWARK) DELAWARE MAY 1983 Reprinted 6-95 FOREWORD The authors of this paper are serious avocational students of paleontology. We are pleased to present their work on vertebrate fossils found in Delaware, a subject that has not before been adequately investigated. Edward M. Lauginiger of Wilmington, Delaware teaches biology at Academy Park High School in Sharon Hill, Pennsyl vania. He is especially interested in fossils from the Cretaceous. Eugene F. Hartstein, also of Wilmington, is a chemical engineer with a particular interest in echinoderm and vertebrate fossils. Their combined efforts on this study total 13 years. They have pursued the subject in New Jersey, Maryland, and Texas as well as in Delaware. Both authors are members of the Mid-America Paleontology Society, the Delaware Valley Paleontology Society, and the Delaware Mineralogical Society. We believe that Messrs. Lauginiger and Hartstein have made a significant technical contribution that will be of interest to both professional and amateur paleontologists. Robert R. While this is a common sense assumption, proven by extensive research also for the case of Southeast European nations, the spatial dimension of col lective commemoration and of the construction of national identities have been much less considered. As Pierre Nora and his collaborators have shown, modern nation states require “places” onto which they can pin historical com memoration and imagination (lieux de mémoire). In the course of modernisa tion collective memory lost its organic nature and is no longer reproduced au tomatically. Collective memory is not any more transmitted orally from one generation to the other but rather has become the endeavour of professional memory-makers such as historians and intellectuals2. In order to be compre hensible and meaningful to people, nationally significant historical events must be anchored in popular experience and consciousness. In this operation, locations and material items as well as rituals and other features of culture be 1 This paper results from our research project “Ecology, Organisation of Labour, and Family Forms in the Balkans. The teacher plays an important role in encouraging pupils to civic actions. The aim of this study is find out the relationship between teachers civic education and their methodological skills in students civic participation. The statistical package of social sciences (SPSS 20) was used for data analysis. Questionnaires were administered to 34 teachers who give social education subject in 6th-9th grade and 414 students of these teachers, in Durres and Elbasan. The factorial analysis of the questionnaire on teachers civic education discovered two important factors: civic responsibility and civic values, while according to teachers’ methodological skills discovered three factors: the quality of the class, learning and student assessment. It was also observed that there is a positive relationship between teachers’ civic education and their methodological skills with students’ civic participation, which it was reported by teachers or perceived by students. There is a significant statistical relationship between teachers civic education and students civic participation: r = .40 (p <0:01), which is stronger than teachers methodological skills and students civic participation: r = .28 (p <0:01). According to the findings of this study should be increased teachers training programs at local and national level. -
Part 629 – Glossary of Landform and Geologic Terms
Title 430 – National Soil Survey Handbook Part 629 – Glossary of Landform and Geologic Terms Subpart A – General Information 629.0 Definition and Purpose This glossary provides the NCSS soil survey program, soil scientists, and natural resource specialists with landform, geologic, and related terms and their definitions to— (1) Improve soil landscape description with a standard, single source landform and geologic glossary. (2) Enhance geomorphic content and clarity of soil map unit descriptions by use of accurate, defined terms. (3) Establish consistent geomorphic term usage in soil science and the National Cooperative Soil Survey (NCSS). (4) Provide standard geomorphic definitions for databases and soil survey technical publications. (5) Train soil scientists and related professionals in soils as landscape and geomorphic entities. 629.1 Responsibilities This glossary serves as the official NCSS reference for landform, geologic, and related terms. The staff of the National Soil Survey Center, located in Lincoln, NE, is responsible for maintaining and updating this glossary. Soil Science Division staff and NCSS participants are encouraged to propose additions and changes to the glossary for use in pedon descriptions, soil map unit descriptions, and soil survey publications. The Glossary of Geology (GG, 2005) serves as a major source for many glossary terms. The American Geologic Institute (AGI) granted the USDA Natural Resources Conservation Service (formerly the Soil Conservation Service) permission (in letters dated September 11, 1985, and September 22, 1993) to use existing definitions. Sources of, and modifications to, original definitions are explained immediately below. 629.2 Definitions A. Reference Codes Sources from which definitions were taken, whole or in part, are identified by a code (e.g., GG) following each definition. -

Davisian's Normal Cycle of Erosion
UNIT – IV GEOMORPHIC PROCESSES: DAVISIAN’S NORMAL CYCLE OF EROSION: 1. INTRODUCTION i. This is the most important concept develop in geomorphology between 1890-1900. ii. It was proposed by W.M. Davis. iii. It explains evolution of landforms in a region. iv. Davis got the idea from many scholars they include work of Brothers of purity in Dark Ages, Hutton, Powell, Hilbert and many others. v. Davis synthesized the earlier ideas put them in a logical frame work and explained the concept. So, he has not given any new idea but only terms like pheneplain. vi. The terms “cycle” is used because the beginning and the end have same condition the end may be the beginning for next cycle. vii. The term “Normal” indicate temperate humid climate which is Normal for Davis. viii. Davis calls Glacial and Arid conditions as “climatic accident”. ix. Since, the temperate humid condition is normal, river is the major processes. Therefore it is also known as “Fluvial cycle of Erosion” (Fluv means water). 2. BASIC POINTS TO REMEMBER A few basic points should be kept in mind when explanation is given for cycle of erosion. They are, 1. They cycle concept is an idealized modal. 2. Stages in the cycle of erosion do not undergo the same rate of development. 3. Stages in the cycle of erosion cannot be equated with specific amount of time. 4. The theoretical final stage of the cycle, pheniplain is not absorbed any were in the world. One possible area may be the Siberian plain. 3. The Classification of Rural Settlements in Gjirokastra Region
E-ISSN 2281-4612 Academic Journal of Interdisciplinary Studies Vol 5 No 3 S1 ISSN 2281-3993 MCSER Publishing, Rome-Italy December 2016 The Classification of Rural Settlements in Gjirokastra Region Assoc. Prof. Albina Sinani Department of Geography, Faculty of Education and Social Sciences, “Eqrem Çabej” University Gjirokaster 6001, Albania; *[email protected] Doi:10.5901/ajis.2016.v5n3s1p24 Abstract The network of residential areas in the region of Gjirokastra has changed depending of a complex factors. This has affected to the utilization rate of the region's rural territories. Considering the economic orientation of rural settlements by relief factor, we look that in settlements that lie in the landscape field, dominates this main branch of the economy: agriculture, livestock, processing of agricultural and livestock products and trade. In settlements that lie in low relief and high montane prevail livestock and orchards, while in the mountainous terrain of petty farming prevails (in villages of municipalities Picar, Cepo, Pogon and Frashër). To achieve this classification serves the real estate registry, which contains books of plots, with surfaces by categories (arable land, orchard, vineyards, forests, pastures, unproductive land). Until 1990, social-economic factor determining in order to limit the application of the regulatory policies of rural settlements. The old system aimed the limiting of the occupation of agricultural land and increasing population density in the rural area. After 1990 have not been implemented proper policies for the development of rural areas. Gjirokastra region rural areas have outstanding value to the organization as space and landscape, as well as the architecture and internal organization of housing and other buildings, infrastructure etc. -
Pflanzen Aus Albanien 1928 Von Friedrich Markgraf (Berlin-Dahlem)
©Akademie d.
