W obecnej produkcji zwierz=t racjonalne bywienie jest trudne bez zastosowania róbnych do- datków paszowych. Brak tych składników w bywieniu wysokoprodukcyjnych zwierz=t mobe stanowi4 barierB pełnego ujawnienia siB ich zdolnoVci rozrodczych i tucznych. W doVwiadczeniu ubyto dodatku energetycznego glikolu propylenowego w dawkach pokar- mowych loch podczas okresu okołoporodowego i laktacji oraz obserwowano jego wpływ na odchów prosi=t. Podczas doVwiadczenia zebrano nastBpuj=ce dane: liczba prosi=t w 1, 14, 21 oraz 28 dniu bycia, masa ciała i przyrosty dobowe, a takbe upadki prosi=t. Eksperyment przeprowa- dzono z 3 grupami loch – jedna (kontrolna I) bez i dwie (eksperymentalna II i III) z dodatkiem GP (100 g/dzieL/szt.). Najlepsze wyniki uzyskano w masie urodzeniowej prosi=t z grupy III (P00.05). W 14 dniu bycia prosi=t najwybsz= mas= ciała odznaczały siB prosiBta z grupy I. W stosunku do grupy II i III stwierdzono róbnice statystycznie istotne. W 21 dniu laktacji lochy otrzymuj=ce GP miały ciBbsze prosiBta nib lochy z grupy I. ProsiBta pochodz=ce od loch z grupy III rosły najszybciej (P00.05). Wyniki eksperymentu sugeruj=, ib uzasadnione jest dodawanie GP podczas okresu okołopo- rodowego i laktacji loch. Zwierz., LV, Nr 559, 7–16. 8 Olga Boruta, Stanisław Jasek WSTAP Głównym celem utrzymywania loch jest pozyskanie od nich dubej liczby silnych, zdrowych i odchowanych do odpowiedniej masy ciała prosi=t. Sukces ten zaleby od wielu czynników i zabiegów VciVle ze sob= poł=czonych. Najmniejszy bł=d na którymV z etapów hodowli uruchamia szereg negatywnych skutków, a uzyskane wyniki produk- cyjne s= nibsze od potencjalnych mobliwoVci lochy. Znaczenie ma tu odpowiedni sys- tem utrzymania, dobrostan zwierz=t oraz racjonalne bywienie. Jedn= z najwabniejszych cech wartoVci ubytkowej loch jest mlecznoV4. Cecha ta cha- rakteryzuje siB niskim współczynnikiem odziedziczalnoVci (h2 = 0,2). Mobliwe jest sterowanie mlecznoVci= loch np. poprzez ich bywienie. aywienie loch karmi=cych po- winno pokrywa4 potrzeby zwi=zane z produkcj= mleka. Stosowanie róbnego rodzaju dodatków (McNamara, Pettigrew 2002, Jongbloed i wsp. 2004., Noblet, Etienne 1986) przyczynia siB do zmiany składu mleka, lepszego wykorzystania paszy oraz pozytywnie wpływa na rozwój prosi=t. Jak wynika z przegl=du dostBpnego piVmiennictwa, nie za- stosowano wczeVniej dodatku glikolu propylenowego w bywieniu loch. Glikol propyle- nowy stosowny jest na szerok= skalB, w bywieniu krów mlecznych przede wszystkim jako dodatek przeciwko ketozie – gro`nej chorobie metabolicznej krów (Baird 1982). Pozytywny wpływ dodatku glikolu tłumaczy siB ograniczeniem niedoboru energii w pocz=tkowym okresie laktacji. Jego działanie opiera siB na mechanizmie powoduj=- cym wzrost stBbenia glukozy i insuliny oraz na spadku zawartoVci WKT (wolne kwasy tłuszczowe) i zwi=zków ketonowych we krwi. Obserwuje siB równieb zadowalaj=ce zmiany składu mleka i wzrost wydajnoVci mlecznej (Ballard i wsp. 2001, Bodarski i wsp. 2003, KupczyLski i wsp. 2004, 2005). Uzyskane, w powybszych pracach, wyniki skłoniły do prób zastosowania dodatku glikolu propylenowego w bywieniu loch w okre- sie okołoporodowym oraz laktacji. CEL Celem niniejszej pracy było uzyskanie informacji, w jakim stopniu dodatek glikol propylenowy w okresie okołoporodowym i ci=by loch wpływa na wyniki odchowu prosi=t. MATERIAŁ I METODY ZwierzBta. Do eksperymentu wybrano 27 loch reprezentatywnych (22 rasy Polskiej

Twenty nine species of the genus Leptus are known from Neotropical region. In Brazil there are 9 known species: L. adaminae Haitlinger, L. alberti Haitlinger, L. cyryli Haitlinger, L. fozicus Haitlinger, L. iguacuicus Haitlinger, L. mariani Haitlinger, L. onnae Haitlinger, L. stieglmayri (Oudemans) and L. stolae Haitlinger. Larvae of velvet mites are ectoparasites of arthropods while adults are predators. Some larvae of Leptus were collected on bloodsucking bug, Panstrongylus megistus (Burmeister) from Jardim Amaralina, São Paulo city, State of São Paulo. The bloodsucking bugs are considered vectors of Chagas Disease in Brazil. The velvet mites were prepared in Hoyer´s medium and measured under microscope NIKON Eclipse E200 coupled to NIS-Elements BR measurements system, v.3.33.13. Drawings were prepared in Inkscape program. Here we present the diagnosis of this new species of Leptus : 1 palpgenuala and 1 palpfemorala; 4 setae between coxae II-III; fD=45; fV=36; NDV= 81; GL = 222; AL= 66-71; PL=72-73; Palpal se tal formul a: O-1B-1B-3B-2N-4B-1ω; number of setae on Ta I-II-III (24-25-25); on Ti I-II-III (14-14-15) and Ge I-II-III (8-8-8).

The literature databank on Actinedida presently comprises 5,171 papers on 1,624 species. Since the literature of the Actinedida is vast, we have excluded as in past volumes two major taxa from the database: Eriophyidae and the paraphyletic group “Hydracarina”, since these are available elsewhere. The Tarsonemidae have been included since 2006, uniting the Bibliographia Actinedida with the Bibliographia Tarsonemidologica formerly published by RACK and MAHUNKA. The publications cited here reflect the worldwide research interest on the taxonomically difficult Actinedida. The present volume includes publications by researchers from 31 countries and 6 continents. The majority of first authors listed in this year’s volume come from Brazil (14%), Japan (11%), the USA (10%) and India (6%). However, contributions come from many disparate countries, including Turkmenistan, Sri Lanka, Iran and Turkey.

Koch, 1837), were recorded for the first time in Latvia. The former species was found in the soil and vegetation of a mesophytic meadow, whereas the latter was registered walking alive in a dry insect collection box. A list of terrestrial Parasitengona mites, including members of Erythraeidae, Trombidiidae, Podothrombiidae, Microtrombidiidae and Johnstonianidae, hitherto recorded from Latvia is provided. The food chain relationships may be complex as illustrated by Kinn (1971) for the bark beetle, Ips paracunfisus (Fig. 1). This emphasizes that one cannot just discuss the mites without also taking into consideration the host insect, fungi, and nematodes. They all interact and depend on one another in the galleries; this is best illustrated by the keystone species, Tarsonemus n. sp. and its mutualism with the bark beetle mycangial fungus. Fig. 1. The association/predation index devised by Wilson (1980) is a useful tool for predicting the impact of mites on their phoretic hosts. Figure 2 (after Stephen et al.) shows that the closer the phoretic relationship between a mite and bark beetle (as measured by the index of association), the less threat that mite may be to the beetle.
