The following courses are offered as English stream programs: Information Technology (IT) International Business and Management Studies (IBMS) (Full Time, Part Time and Fast Track) Leisure Management (LM) Tourism and Recreation Management (TRM) For more detailed information on admission requirements we have included our enrolment procedure. All programs will start late August/beginning of September 2010. If there are sufficient numbers of applicants, a spring semester of the IBMS FT/ PT course (beginning of February 2011), will also be held. We hope that this information helps you to plan your further education. Registration with INHolland and CBAP (IBG) In order to enroll into higher education in The Netherlands, every student has to enroll with “Studielink”. You can register to Studielink through the following link: http://www.inholland.nl/INHOLLANDCOM/Studying+at+INHOLLAND/Application+in+Studielin k/Application.htm In order to register with Studielink, you will need one of the following course codes: . IT program (Techniek/B Bedrijfswiskunde): 35168 IBMS program (Economie/ B Internat Business and Managem Studies): 34936 LM program (Economie/ B Vrijetijdskunde): 34438 TRM program (B Hoger Toeristisch en Recreatief Onderwijs): 34410 Besides the course code, you will also need the following institution code to complete your registration with Studielink: INHOLLAND University Amsterdam/Diemen: 27PZ If you find any problems registering with Studielink you can contact the Study advisory Centre of INHOLLAND through email: [email protected] 2. Entrance exam and an interview session Every student applying for IBMS, TRM or LM will have to do both an entrance exam and an interview session with the program. IT students are exempted to do the exam and interview. 3. English Testing All students will have to take one of the following English language tests: English IELTS test (minimum result 6.0 overall) English TOEFL test paper based (minimum score 550) English TOEFL test computer based (minimum score 213) English TOEFL test internet based (minimum score 80 overall) English Cambridge certificate (CAE or CPE) You are exempted from taking an English language test if one of the following conditions applies to the your situation: You hold the Dutch nationality You are a “Native speaker” from Australia, Canada, Irish Republic, New Zealand, South Africa, UK or USA You hold an International Baccalaureate (5 on English) You hold European Baccalaureate (7 on English) You hold a GCSE certificate (A, B or C on English). Chinese students are required to send an IELTS test result only, TOEFL and Cambridge are not accepted from Chinese students. 2 4. A validated secondary education certificate or pre-university education certificates and grade lists in English, French, German or Spanish Some examples of generally accepted pre-education: Netherlands: HAVO/VWO or a level 4 MBO diploma Germany: Abitur of Fachabitur France: Baccalaureate UK: General Certificate of Education – A level Scotland: Certificate of Education – Higher, or the International Equivalent USA: High School Diploma An equivalent to one of the above mentioned pre-university leaving certificates If you are over 21 and you don’t have a validated secondary education certificate you can do the 21+ test at the international recruitment office. 5. Hand in all papers required by the Student Administration The following papers are required by the Student Administration: A registration via Studielink A recent passport-size photograph If applicable; a copy of your residence permit A copy of the identifying page of your passport A certified copy of your diploma or certificate(s) and grade lists If applicable; a copy of your English test result (for Non-Dutch enrollers only) 6. Hand in all papers required by the International Recruitment Office A completed Recruitment Reply Form IT/IBMS/LM/TRM/ questionnaire and motivation letter Curriculum Vitaé 7. Obtain a job related to IBMS For IBMS Part-Time applicants only! You need to have a job which is related to the IBMS program to be accepted as a part time student. If you apply for IBMS Part-Time y should hand in the following documents: A letter of reference Job description 3 Procedure 1. Confirmation of Application Students will receive a letter from the Student Administration confirming the application from Studielink and information on what documents you need to provide. Students living abroad; Student Administration will inform you as soon as they have received all the required documents and they will send your foreign certificate(s) for validation and the English test result will be verified on authenticity. Our validation officer will inform the Student Administration department and the International Recruitment Office if your foreign certificate(s) is/are valid for entry into Dutch Higher education. 2. Invitation from the International Recruitment Office After you have sent all the required documents and the Recruitment Reply Form (including all attachments), the International Recruitment Office will send you an invitation letter for a test and an interview. The available dates for the entrance tests and interviews are indicated on the Recruitment Reply Form. If you are abroad, kindly inform us about which of dates and times (Central European Time) we will be able to reach you on the phone. We may wish to contact you by telephone to conduct a short interview. Do not forget to give us your telephone number, including country and city codes. 3. Confirmation letter offering you a provisional place on the program On the basis of the test results and the interview with the International Recruitment Office, you will receive a Confirmation letter offering you a provisional place on the program. Until it has been formally ascertained that all criteria have been met, enrolment can only take place on a provisional basis. Applicants should note that the certificate validation procedure may take up to three months therefore, early enrolment is recommended. Only on the basis of validated documents and test results, the university can issue a provisional place, which is usually needed for visa application. 4. Apply for a visa (MVV) Only if necessary! Important point Please note that administrative streams are not synchronized. It could happen that you receive a letter to pay tuition fees. This does not mean you are accepted on the IT, LM, TRM or IBMS course. The only proof of acceptance is the confirmation letter from the program to which you have applied for. We will send you a confirmation letter of acceptance or refusal only after points 1, 2 and 3 mentioned above have been carried out. 7. If your previous education is validated as insufficient to join the course you have applied for, you may still participate in the 21+ exam. If the 21+ exam is passed, you are still eligible to join that particular course. International Business and Management Studies The test takes two hours and includes the following: Reading Use of English (which includes grammar) Writing Competence in Economics and/or Math Tourism and Recreational Management and Leisure Management The test takes one and a half hour and includes the following: Reading Use of English (which includes grammar) Writing 2. Interview Students for all English stream courses, except IT, are also obligated to do an interview. The main purpose of this interview is to talk about your motivation to start the IBMS, LM, TRM or IT program, and to test your oral skills in English. The interviews may be individual or in groups and each interview will take about 20 minutes. If you live abroad, you are also allowed to do the interview by phone but we prefer a face-to- face interview with you, so that we can get to know you better.
