Transcripts of 23 videos and interviews of 10 viewers of University students were used as data. Some main theories were used to analyse the data, namely Poplack (1980), Koziol (2000), and Garrett (2010). Based on the results of analysis, this study shows that all types of code switching were found in Indonesian Idol 2012 program judges’ comments namely intrasentential switching, intersentential switching, and tag switching. Ten functions were identified such as emphasis, untranslatability, mitigating message, reiteration, clarification, aggravating message, quotation, personalization, designation, and interjection. In addition, the results also reveal that the viewers mostly show their positive attitudes as they take code switching phenomena as the media for learning a language. Selain sebagai penyanyi, ia juga merupakan seorang pelatih vokal. Karirnya sebagai pelatih vokal berjalan sejak ia menjadi asisten pelatih paduan suara. Hingga hari ini Pritta mendirikan kursus vokal bernama Pritta Kartika Vocal Class dan beberapa muridnya mengikuti jejaknya di The Voice Indonesia dan pencarian bakat lainnya. Rumusan masalah dalam penelitian ini antara lain: 1) Bagaimana eksistensi Pritta Kartika sebagai penyanyi di Surabaya, 2) Bagimana eksistensi Pritta Kartika sebagai pelatih vokal di Surabaya. Penelitian ini menggunakan penelitian kualitatif deskriptif. Objek eksistensi dan upaya yang dilakukan untuk menunjang eksistensi Pritta Kartika sebagai penyanyi dan pelatih vokal di Surabaya hingga tetap ada sampai saat ini. Teknik pengumpulan data menggunakan observasi, wawancara dengan Pritta Kartika dan dokumentasi yang didapat dari Pritta Kartika, managernya, dan peneliti. Hasil penelitian menunjukkan bahwa 1) Pritta Kartika merupakan penyanyi Surabaya yang eksis dalam karir beryanyinya. Hal ini dibuktikan dengan seringnya ia berpartisipasi mengikuti kompetisi bernyanyi sejak ia masih usia dini. Terlebih ketika ia mengikuti The Voice Indonesia pada tahun 2013. Berdasarkan data yang diperoleh, hasil penelitian menunjukkan bahwa pengaruh terpaan program Indonesian Idol terhadap minat menjadi artis dikalangan mahasiswa Untirta sebesar 44.8% dengan nilai r hitung yaitu 0,67. Korelasi antara variabel X dan Y dalam penelitian ini berada pada kategori sedang. Persentase terpaan program Indonesian Idol dikalangan mahasiswa Untirta sebesar 56.34% sedangkan Minat menjadi artis dikalangan mahasiswa Untirta sebesar 43.65%. Latar Belakang Masalah Indonesia idol adalah adalah suatu ajang pencarian bakat yang diadopsi dari Pop Idol (Inggris) dengan sponsor dari Fremantle Media yang bekerjasama dengan Rajawali Citra Televisi Indoensia (RCTI1). Ajang ini merupakan pencarian idola di bidang tarik suara. Indonesian Idol telah menjadi acara realitas terbesar di Indonesia. Indonesian Idol pernah memenangkan Panasonic Awards untuk kategori Music & Variety Show Terbaik selama 2 tahun berturut-turut (2005 dan 2006), mengalahkan Akademi Fantasi Indosiar serta KDI2 yang berada di nominasi yang sama. Indonesian Idol juga mendapatkan penghargaan dari Singapore Tourism Board saat kesebelas finalis Indonesian Idol berada di Singapura untuk menjadi pembuka tur dunia American Idol musim ketiga.3. Setelah kemunculan Indonesian Idol, banyak acara lain yang ditayangkan. Ajang pencarian bakat ini diadakan setiap 2 tahun sekali sejak 2008 pada tahun genap4. Namun setelah musim kelima, acara ini dihentikan karena ratingnya yang menurun, dan kembali dilanjutkan dimusim yang keenam pada tahun 2010. Pada tahun 2011, acara ini vakum karena diadakannya program Master Chef Indonesia5. Pada tahun 2014, Indonesian Idol mengalami penurunan. Dan di tahun berikutnya, tepatnya pada bulan November 2015, program Indonesian Idol terkontrak habis dengan FremantleMedia, dan dinyatakan 1RCTI (singkatan dari Rajawali Citra Televisi Indonesia) adalah stasiun televisiswastaIndonesia pertama Pada awalnya didirikan sebagai perusahaan joint venture dengan kepemilikan saat itu adalah Bimantara Citra (69,82%) dan Rajawali Wirabhakti Utama (30,18%)[1]. One of them is language misuse. Hearing language misuses repeatedly at the wrong time and in the wrong place, make it seems as if that usage was correct. Sometimes these misuses are like simply a thing simple such as spelling errors. However, at other times, language misuse can significantly change the meaning of a sentence. It makes people easy to become confused. It happens in the contact of using English too. English misuse is very interesting to be studied because the use of English words seemingly like becoming a trend right now. According to Sharma (2004: 23) misuse is an ethical and subjective term, and we cannot proceed scientifically unless we first decide what constitutes misuse of language. English misuse can be seen in written and spoken language. Written misuses can be found in many writings such as in magazines, newspapers, tabloids etc. Meanwhile in spoken, English misuse can be found in interviews, reality shows, talk shows, and so on. There are many people who use English words and expressions when they speak to others although they don’t really understand about it. Then, the use of English itself causes some problems. One 1 of the problems is misuse on parts of speech. It might happen because people have limited understanding in recognizing parts of speech. We have already known that misuse on parts of speech cannot be avoided.

    Introduction: Adapting Idols Joost de Bruin and Koos Zwaan Idols is one of the most popular and successful global television formats produced in the last decade. The format has been adapted in over 40 territories all over the world, as the appendix – compiled by Sukhpreet Singh and Martin Kretschmer for this book – shows. The original show, Pop Idol, went to air in the UK in 2001. The next year, local versions of the show were broadcast in Poland, South Africa, the USA, Germany and the Netherlands. By the end of 2004 – exactly three years after the introduction of Pop Idol – 30 territories were screening their own Idols shows, illustrating the rapid global spread of the format. In some cases Idols was produced for transnational geographic regions, such as Asian Idol – with auditions in India, Indonesia, Malaysia, the Philippines, Singapore and Vietnam – and the Pan-Arab Superstar, which featured contestants from Lebanon, Syria, Iraq, Jordan, Libya, Morocco and Algeria. The most recent branch on the global Idols tree at the time of writing is Idol Puerto Rico. The owners of the Idols format, FremantleMedia and 19 Entertainment, have thus managed to capitalize on the work put into the design of the original UK show by turning it into a format and selling it to a range of territories. The goal of Idols shows is to involve a nation (or a region consisting of several different nations) in a quest for a popular music idol who can be admired by all. Idols shows are commonly divided into four distinct phases (Holmes 2004).
