Allegro *** Fantasia in do maggiore op. posth. 159 D.934 Andante molto - Allegretto - Andantino - Allegro vivace - Allegretto - Presto 2 SUYOEN KIM, nata a Münster (Germania) nel 1987, ha ricevuto le prime lezioni di violino all’età di cinque anni da Houssan Mayas. Quattro anni più tardi ha iniziato gli studi alla Hochschule für Musik di Detmold con Helge Slaatto, completandoli nel 2008. Ha seguito un periodo di studi con Ana Chumachenco alla Hochschule für Musik und Theater di Monaco, dove si è diplomata nel 2010; fino al 2012 ha partecipato, ai corsi dell’Accademia di Kronberg, grazie al sostegno della Fondazione Steigenberger/Rath. Come solista, Suyoen Kim ha collaborato con direttori di grande pregio internazionale quali Kurt Masur, Eliahu Inbal, Myung-Whun Chung, Steven Sloane, Jan Latham-Koenig, Peter Ruzicka e Walter Weller e ha suonato con la Deutsche Kammerphilharmonie di Brema, l’Hermitage Theater di San Pietroburgo, la Copenhagen Philharmonie, la Baden Badener Philharmonie, la Bayerische Kammerphilharmonie, l’Orchestra Filarmonica di Strasburgo, la Neue Philharmonie Westfalen, la Württembergisches Kammerorchester Heilbronn e la Seoul Symphony Orchestra. Nel 2003 ha ricevuto il Primo Premio al Concorso Internazionale di violino “Leopold Mozart” di Augsburg e nel 2006 si è aggiudicata il Primo Premio al Concorso Internazionale “Joseph Joachim” di Hannover. È stata artista “in residence” presso l’Orchestra Filarmonica di Torino, con la quale ha ottenuto un successo straordinario nel luglio 2016, suonando il Concerto di Čajkovskij davanti a 8000 persone. Suyoen Kim suona un violino Stradivari del 1702, messo a sua disposizione dalla Nippon Foundation. 3 DONG-HYEK LIM ha iniziato lo studio del pianoforte a sette anni. A nove ha ottenuto il Primo Premio al Concorso indetto dal giornale “Hanguk Daily”. Nel 1994 si è trasferito a Mosca, dove si è diplomato nel 1998 al Conservatorio “Čajkovskij”. Attualmente studia con Emanuel Ax alla Juilliard School di New York. Lim ha ricevuto premi in vari concorsi, tra cui il Concorso Chopin per giovani pianisti a Mosca, il Concorso “Ferruccio Busoni” nel 2000, il Concorso Internazionale di pianoforte di Hamamatsu (Giappone), il Terzo Premio al Concorso “Fryderyk Chopin” di Varsavia 2005 e al “Čajkovskij” di Mosca nel 2007. Nel 2001 è stato il più giovane vincitore del Premier Grand Prix nella storia del Concorso Internazionale “Long-Thibaud” di Parigi. Le sue esibizioni alla Sala Grande del Conservatorio di Mosca, alla Salle Pleyel di Parigi, nella Konzerthaus di Berlino e con Martha Argerich nella Filarmonica di Beppu in Giappone hanno ricevuto grandi consensi. Lim è apparso anche in rinomati festival, fra cui Verbier Festival, Klavier-Festival Ruhr, Festival Internazionale Chopin di Varsavia, Montpellier Radio France, Festival Piano Aux Jacobins di Toulouse (Francia). Ha collaborato con la NHK Symphony Orchestra, diretta da Charles Dutoit, la Filarmonica di San Pietroburgo, diretta da Jurij Temirkanov, l’Orchestre National de France, diretta da Kurt Masur e l’Orchestre Philharmonique de Radio France, diretta da Lawrence Foster e Myung-Whun Chung. 4 Lunedì 19 febbraio - ore 20.30 La felicità inventiva I CAMERISTI DI S. Vivace 5 L’ensemble I CAMERISTI DI SANTA CECILIA ha debuttato con grande successo al Palau de la Música di Valencia nel febbraio 2015. È nato dalla stima reciproca dei musicisti e dal desiderio comune di affrontare il repertorio da camera, con l’affiatamento e l’intesa frutto del lavoro quotidiano in orchestra. È composto principalmente da prime parti soliste dell’Orchestra dell’Accademia Nazionale di Santa Cecilia (flauto, oboe e quartetto d’archi) considerate ormai da pubblico e critica tra i migliori musicisti italiani. I componenti svolgono un’intensa attività, solistica e cameristica; hanno collaborato con importanti orchestre come l’Orchestra della Fondazione Teatro alla Scala di Milano, l’Orchestra del Lucerna Festival, l’Orchestra Mozart di Claudio Abbado, l’Orchestre National de France, la Chamber Orchestra of Europe e hanno suonato nelle più importanti sale da concerto del mondo. Tutti i componenti sono impegnati nei progetti della Human Rights Orchestra. ANDREA OLIVA dal 2003 ricopre il ruolo di Primo Flauto solista dell’Orchestra dell’Accademia Nazionale di Santa Cecilia di Roma e docente di flauto presso il Conservatorio della Svizzera italiana a Lugano. È vincitore di numerosi concorsi internazionali, tra cui spicca il Primo Premio al Concorso Internazionale di Kobe in Giappone (2005). Da giovane è stato membro della GMJO e della Karajan Akademie Berlin e, a soli 23 anni, è stato invitato nel ruolo di Primo Flauto dai Berliner Philharmoniker, sotto la direzione di Claudio Abbado, Valerij Gerghiev, Sakari Oramo e Mariss Jansons. ELENA LA MONTAGNA è violino di fila nei primi violini dell’Orchestra dell’Accademia Nazionale di Santa Cecilia dal 2008. Fin da giovanissima si è distinta per le spiccate doti affermandosi in svariati concorsi nazionali ed internazionali. Ha ricoperto il ruolo di concertino e spalla dei primi violini nell’Orchestra Haydn di Trento e Bolzano, dopo aver vinto il concorso. INGRID BELLI è Concertino dei violini secondi dell’Orchestra Nazionale di Santa Cecilia. Ha ottenuto il diploma di merito all’Accademia Musicale Chigiana di Siena seguendo i corsi con il Trio di Trieste. Ha vinto diversi concorsi, tra cui il “Sandro Fuga” di Torino. Si è perfezionata alla Musikhochschule di Vienna con Josef Sivó, a Fiesole con Giulio Franzetti, a Roma con Giuseppe Prencipe. Ha collaborato con diversi teatri italiani. SIMONE BRIATORE si è distinto in vari concorsi italiani e ha seguito corsi di perfezionamento con Pavel Vernikov e Vadim Brodski, Christoph Schiller, Bruno Giuranna e Wolfram Christ. 6 Ha tenuto concerti in diverse formazioni da camera accanto a musicisti come Martha Argerich, Enrico Bronzi, Mario Brunello, Bruno Canino, Massimo Quarta, Alexander Sitkovetsky e Pavel Vernikov. Come prima viola, ha suonato con l’Orchestra Filarmonica di Torino, l’Orchestra da Camera di Mantova, l’Orchestra Filarmonica del Teatro alla Scala di Milano e altre. Dal 1998 al 2009 ha ricoperto il ruolo di Prima Viola presso l’Orchestra Sinfonica Nazionale della RAI e dal 2009 è Prima Viola presso l’Orchestra dell’Accademia Nazionale di Santa Cecilia a Roma. CARLO ONORI si è perfezionato con R. Aldulescu all’Accademia Lisy, A. Janigro e M. Brunello, e all’Accademia Musicale Chigiana con il Trio di Trieste. All’età di 21 anni è risultato vincitore dei concorsi dell’Orchestra del Teatro Comunale di Firenze e dell’Orchestra dell’Accademia Nazionale di Santa Cecilia, in cui attualmente ricopre il ruolo di Concertino dei violoncelli, con l’obbligo del Primo, e quello di Primo Violoncello dell’Orchestra Barocca. Nell’ambito della Stagione da Camera ha collaborato con violinisti come L. Kavakos e S. Montanari, e pianisti come A. Lonquich, A. Tharaud e R. Allegro Assai 8 Fondato nel 1988, il LEIPZIG STRING QUARTET è ora considerato uno dei più interessanti quartetti d’archi sulla scena cameristica internazionale. Tre dei suoi membri furono prime parti nella famosa Gewandhaus Orchestra di Leipzig, prima di decidere nel 1993 di dedicarsi completamente alla musica da camera. Dopo gli studi con l’Amadeus Quartet e con Gerhard Bosse, Hatto Beyerle e Walter Levin, il Quartetto ha vinto numerosi premi e riconoscimenti, tra cui il Secondo Premio all’International ARD Munich Competition nel 1991, il Busch Brothers Award e il Siemens Music Prize nel 1992. Il Leipzig String Quartet si è esibito in oltre 40 nazioni ed è stato invitato nei più importanti festival.

    Dundee Symphony Orchestra is the performing name of Dundee Orchestral Society. The Society was founded in 1893 by a group of enthusiastic amateur performers, and has gone from strength to strength ever since. The only period in the Orchestra's history when it did not perform or rehearse was during the Second World War. The Orchestra is funded through private and charitable donations, subscriptions from members, and by grants from Making Music and the Scottish Arts Council. On leaving school, Robert entered the Royal College of Music in London studying violin with Grigori Zhislin and Madeleine Mitchell and piano with Yonty Solomon. He graduated with Honours in 1997 and also gained the Associateship Diploma of the Royal College of Music in Violin Performance. Robert has been conducting since he was 11. In 1993 he conducted the Royal Scottish National Orchestra at the invitation of its then Musical Director, Walter Weller, appearing with them again three years later and in 1995 Robert co-founded the reconstituted Orchestra of Old St Paul's in Edinburgh.

    RUSSIAN, SOVIET & POST-SOVIET SYMPHONIES A Discography of CDs And LPs Prepared by Michael Herman Sergei Prokofiev (1891-1953) Born in Sontsovka, Yekaterinoslav District, Ukraine. He was a prodigy who played the piano and composed as a child. His formal training began when Sergei Taneyev recommended as his teacher the young composer and pianist Reinhold Glière who spent two summers teaching Prokofiev theory, composition, instrumentation and piano. Then at the St. Petersburg Conservatory he studied theory with Anatol Liadov, orchestration with Nikolai Rimsky-Korsakov and conducting with Nikolai Tcherepnin. He went on to become one of Russia's greatest composer, excelling in practically every genre of music. He left the Soviet Union in 1922, touring as a pianist and composing in Western Europe and America, but returned home permanently in 1936.     AN AUTOBIOGRAPHICAL OUTLINE by Steve Elcock I was born in Chesterfeld, Derbyshire, in 1957 and studied at the local grammar school, where I obtained an A Level in music and learnt the violin up to grade 7. Tese are my only musical qualifcations: as a composer I am otherwise self-taught. I began writing around age ffeen and have continued to do so ever since. In 1981 I moved to France, where I work in language services for companies. For a period of about ten years, I conducted the local amateur symphony orchestra, which played some of my early compositions. In 2009 my short orchestral piece Hammering came to the attention of an old friend with whom I had all but lost touch. Mike George is a producer at the BBC and he was able to get the work performed in a BBC Philharmonic studio concert in Manchester (subsequently broadcast), conducted by James MacMillan. Although I was now 52, this was the frst professional performance of any of my pieces. At that concert I met the composer Robin Walker1 and began an e-mail correspondence with him. He was very enthusiastic about my music and one day suggested I might send some scores and mock-ups to Martin Anderson at Toccata Classics. In June 2013, not believing for an instant that it would do any good, I plucked up enough courage to do so, posting him the Tird and Fourth Symphonies and the symphonic poem Wreck. As I expected, there was no reaction throughout the summer months. And then in late August I received the following e-mail from Martin: Your scores have been sitting at my elbow for what I thought was a week or two, waiting for my deadlines to let up for long enough to clear the desk and read and listen.
