OTHER ROLES AND OPEN NIGHTS

NORTHUMBERLAND COALITION OF CRIME We are currently recruiting volunteer mentors for our next training group starting in September!

We work with vulnerable young people who are at risk of offending/reoffending by offering them a safe place to take about their issues. Our aim is to support, guide and educate our young people through informal education. Could you dedicate a few hours a week to support a young person like Jacob?

'Jacob really wants to be liked and accepted. He finds it hard to say no to his friends. He worries if he says no he will disappoint them and they won’t like him anymore. He sometimes does things that they ask him to do out of fear of losing them but as a result he ends up in trouble with the police and most the time he doesn’t even realise what he has done is that bad.

He secretly loves school but puts on an act in front of his friends that often gets him expelled which makes him sad.

His Dad has recently moved away with his stepmam and his stepsister and Jacob finds it really hard to cope with this as he feels abandoned and not wanted. This often leads him to being angry at the people who love him like his mam.

His mam tries her best to reassure him but it isn’t enough. His confidence is really low and he doesn’t see how he can change.' If you answered yes, please get in touch for more information. We are currently seeking volunteer mentors who can commit to a 12 month relationship. Please contact [email protected] for more detail

Patient-Led Assessments of the Care Environment (PLACE)

Good environments matter. Every NHS patient should be cared for with compassion and dignity in a clean, safe environment. PLACE assessments provide motivation for improvement by providing a clear message, directly from patients, about how the environment or services might be enhanced.

The assessments involve local people (known as Patient Assessors) going into hospitals as part of teams to assess how the environment supports the provision of clinical care, assessing such things as privacy and dignity, food, cleanliness, general building maintenance. It also includes the extent to which the environment is able to support the care of those with dementia and looks at aspects of the environment in relation to people with disabilities.

Expected to launch in September, the only restrictions for PLACE participation are employees of the Trust or those who have left the Trust within the last 2 years are not permitted, anyone else who has an interest in Trust services and is interested in being a patient assessor, please contact:
