MINUTES OF CORWEN TOWN COUNCIL MEETING HELD 14 MAY 2014 Present were: The Chairman Chris Jones, Simon Watkins, Caradog Williams, Debbie Jones, Geraint Lloyd, Glaves Roberts, Howard Sutcliffe, Annie Yaxley, Eric Lea, Deryk Hughes, County Councillor Huw Jones and the Clerk. 1. Members of the public – none. 2. Apologies – Geoff Williams/Lesley Lewis-Crimes 3. Declaration of interest(s) – none. 4. Annual General Meeting items: (i) Election of Chairman 2014/15 Chris Jones (ii) Election of Vice-Chairman 2014/15 Howard Sutcliffe (iii) Risk Assessment/Annual Investment Strategy Approval was given to the detailed papers. 5. Chairman’s Opening Remarks The Chairman thanked members for their support. Expressed condolensces to Caradog Williams on the recent loss of his brother. Also to the family of a young man from town recently died in a road traffic accident. 6. Police Matters – none present. Noted an increase in criminal damage in the area recently. 7. Minutes of previous meeting – approved as a true record. 8. Matters arising/review decision register – updated. Noted complaints had been received regarding the refurbishment of the Post Office – Clerk to write to complain that it has been downgraded and not upgraded. County Councillor Huw Jones to request if Nat West Bank will install a cash machine. 9. Reports Glaves Roberts reported that he had attended a meeting with Norman Jones, Ian West and representatives from Llangollen Railway to ascertain what is available in the town in preparation for the arrival of the train. 10. Correspondence Letter from Chief Inspector Jason Devonport outlining how Denbighshire has performed over the last twelve months. Request as to whether large triangular signs should be provided to help prevent and reduce the offence of failing to clear dog foul – 20 to be requested, subject to cost. Request for representatives to attend One Voice Wales Area Committee meetings – the Chairman and Clerk to be nominated. Letter regarding future new use of Red K6 Telephone Boxes from Clwydian Range and Dee Valley AONB – agreed to adopt. Also request the removal of the telephone kiosk in Maesafallen. Invitation to attend AGM of South Denbighshire Community Partnership 8th May Request for financial assistance from Corwen Walking Festival – agree to donate £150. Letter of thanks from Gwyl Ddrama Corwen for recent donation. Request for donation from Glyndyfrdwy Carnival 2014 – agree to donate £150. - 1 - Request for support to extend lease from Glyndyfrdwy Community Enterprise to end of October 2014 – agreed to support. Request for annual grant from South Denbighshire Community Partnership – agreed to pay £2250. 11. Planning Applications The following applications were received to which no objections were raised: 05/2014/0422 Land at Rhug Estate Use of land for siting 2 static caravans for 6 months 05/2014/0498 Tyn y Ceubren Bach Erection of a first floor extension Glyndyfrdwy with external balcony 05/2014/0511 Ty Isa Barn London Erection of a single storey extension Road, Corwen to dwelling Re following application – inform Planning Dept that it is stated that there are two existing spaces, but this is not the case and there are not any existing spaces. Request that the applicant should re submit plans on where the 4 proposed parking spaces are proposed and state that it will not hinder existing users of the road. 05/2014/0510Capel Bedyddwyr Extension to existing residential area into Glyndyfrdwy redundant chapel area Re following application – no objection but request to use local stone to match existing. 05/2013/1337Mynachtyd Ucha Erection of sunroom extension to front of Glyndyfrdwy dwelling Notification that the application relating to land south of Penyrallt, Glyndyfrdwy has been withdrawn by the applicants. Information regarding a notice which has been served regarding Unauthorised development – erection of structure on agricultural land at Coed y Glyn, Glyndyfrdwy Granted Garth y Dwr Cottage, Glyndyfrdwy Druid Afon Alwen, Rhug, Corwen St Davids, Carrog Bryn Hyfryd, Carrog 12.
