IAEA and Iran Agree on Action Plan

Vienna, 7 April 2004 | Emerging from a meeting in Teheran on 6 April, IAEA Director General Mohamed ElBaradei said he was "satisfied" with the results of his meetings which included agreement on a joint action plan with a timetable to deal with outstanding issues regarding the verification of Iran's nuclear program.

Dr. ElBaradei said that "this action plan includes a sequence of activities to be undertaken by Iran in coming weeks which will hopefully pave the way for progress. Among other things, Iran will provide to the IAEA by the end of April detailed information regarding aspects of its centrifuge program as well as its declaration under the Additional Protocol by mid-May."

While in Iran, Dr. ElBaradei met with Mr. Golamreza Aghazadeh, President of the Atomic Energy Organization of Iran; Dr. H. Rohani, Secretary of the Supreme National Security Council; Dr. , Minister of Foreign Affairs and President .
