A Mass intention is a great way to remember someone, living or deceased, to celebrate many different occasions, beginning with the “source & summit” of our life, the Eucharist! If you have requested the Mass, we invite you to sit in the pew by the credence (gift) table and process forward with the bread and wine to begin the Liturgy of the Eucharist. Sitting at the gift table in the narthex is the cue for the ushers and presiders that you are willing to offer the gifts of bread & wine on behalf of the community. LOW-GLUTEN HOSTS & HEARING DEVICES: These are available for your assistance during Mass. See the communion ministers in the sacristy for a special host to be used during Communion. See the musicians for the hearing devices to support your active listening during the Mass. ASH WEDNESDAY IS FEBRUARY 14 This year, as in past years, we have an array of times to help you begin your Lenten journey. Most of our services are with Mass – and the distribution of the ashes follows the homily of the Mass. Masses are at 6:30 a.m., 9:00 a.m., 12:15 p.m. and 7:00 p.m. We once again will offer a Service of the Word at 4:00 p.m.; it is not a Mass. To help you remind you of the service, here’s the order of it: • Opening Song • Collect (Opening Prayer) • Reading (of the day from the prophet Joel) • Psalm (of the day) • Homily on the Word of God (Deacon Joe leading) • Blessing and Distribution of Ashes (we will need many helpers to distribute ashes o (Music during this time – usher holding baskets for the collection – two of them, one for our parish and the other to help Eastern Europe Churches) • Closing Prayer • Closing Song With many ministers to assist Deacon Joe, who is leading this year’s service, it would be about 20 – 25 minutes. Thanks for signing up and we look forward to sharing our Lenten journey together. In next week’s bulletin, we will have other things for you to do to prepare for Lent. 2018 SPRING FLING CORNER 2018 Spring Fling Update - Dateline St. Paschal Baylon, Highland Heights 41 o31’58.49”N, 81 o28’38.36”W, elevation 1,019 feet. If interested in seeing what goes on behind the scenes, we can still use a few New Faces to join our core committee. THE SYMBOLON CATHOLIC FAITH EXPLAINED Session 1: The Journey of Faith An old proverb says the longest journey begins with a single step. The Spiritual Formation Committee of St Clare and St Paschal invite you to take a step toward a deeper and richer experience of your Catholic faith that will last a lifetime. This is the first of a 10-part study of the Catholic faith entitled Symbolon . We will gather once a month to reflect on God’s plan of salvation for us, basing our study on the Creed. Each session includes prayer, video presentations and time for discussion. So, what is Symbolon ? In the early Church, Christians described their Creed, their summary statement of faith, as the symbolon. The Creed served as a means of Christian recognition. Someone who confessed the Creed could be identified as a true Christian. Our first session was cancelled due to inclement weather. Our make- up date is January 22, from 6:30 p.m. – 8:00 p.m. in the Eymard Room at the Parish Life Center. So now you have a second chance to learn more about your faith! There is no registration fee, so please just come to become part of this new and exciting adult faith formation program. If you have any questions or would like further information, call Rosalie Lewis at 440-227-8718.
