Sessions include multi-media presentations and always time for your questions. The 2014 season runs March 6 to April 10 at 11 parishes and one high school that spans the border of Los Angeles and Ventura counties. They love to teach and connect faith with real life. • Sessions include discussions, presentations, multi-media, handouts and time for your questions. Some sessions may include books, CDs, and DVDs for sale. • All sessions are non-accredited and presented for the purpose of spiritual and personal growth. The Book of Daniel contains stirring and provocative stories of courage and faith. The stories also inspired a number of “spirituals” from the days of slavery. What can these songs teach us? The stories and apocalyptic visions of the Book of Daniel deal with Jewish persecutions from the Exile to King Antiochus. Fr. Bill explains this history, what is seen in Daniel’s visions and stories, and how it is relevant to a faith in God’s plan for His chosen people. Fr. St. Ignatius of Loyola (1491-1556) founded the Society of Jesus (the Jesuits) and also taught innovative methods of prayer based on scripture. This workshop introduces two very practical methods of Meditation and Contemplation, and gives attendees an opportunity to experience them in practice. Join Fr. The Spiritual Exercises of St. Ignatius Loyola contain some remarkably useful and very practical guidelines to help distinguish between the influence of good spirits (moving toward God) and evil spirits (moving away from God, or even just thoughts within in our own head!).
