This represents the largest gap since I first visited in 1999. The reasons for this are varied, however mostly it was a combination of self-employment and disenchantment brought on by a number of people both in Manila and Sydney. It is remarkable how damaging negative and hateful people can be. -

As of 2004, the total length of the non-toll road network was reported to be 202,860 km, with the following breakdown according to type: • National roads - 15% • Provincial roads - 13% • City and municipal roads - 12% • Barangay (barrio) roads - 60% Road classification is based primarily on administrative responsibilities (with the exception of barangays), i.e., which level of government built and funded the roads. -

SEVENTEENTH CONGRESS OF THE REPUBLIC OF THE PHILIPPINES First Regular Session '.7 o f SENATE Introduced by Senator Poe RESOLUTION DIRECTING THE SENATE COMMITTEE ON PUBLIC SERVICES TO REVIEW THE DISCRETION AND POWER GIVEN TO THE LAND TRANSPORTATION FRANCHISING AND REGULATORY BOARD TO PRESCRIBE ROUTES FOR UV EXPRESS VEHICLES, WITH THE END GOAL OF FORMULATING MEASURES TO ENSURE THAT DUE PROCESS, PROPER CONSULTATION WITH ALL STAKEHOLDERS, AND REASONABLE CRITERIA AND PARAMETERS SHALL BE OBSERVED IN THE PROCESS OF ROUTE SELECTION AND/OR ALTERATION OF THE SAME WHEREAS, the 1987 Philippine Constitution provides that the State shall promote a rising standard of living and an improved quality of life for all;1 WHEREAS, the worsening traffic congestion in urban areas, particularly in Metro Manila, has led to excessively long commute times for public and private commuters and a deterioration of the overall quality of life; WHEREAS, the productivity cost of the current transportation crisis has been estimated to be within the region of Php2.4 Billion per day, or more than PhpSOO Billion per year; WHEREAS, a prevalent mode of public transportation in Metro Manila and its nearby cities, munieipalities or provinces is the “UV Express” vehicle that caters to a vast group of commuters from Bulacan, Cavite, Rizal and all around Metro Manila, among the urban areas afflicted with traffie; WHEREAS, the Land Transportation Franchising and Regulatory Board (LTFRB) has the authority to: (a) prescribe and regulate routes of service, economically viable capacities and zones or areas of operation of public land transportation services provided by motorized vehicles;2 and (b) issue, amend, revise, suspend or cancel Certificates of Public Convenience or permits authorizing the operation of public Land Transportation services provided by motorized vehicles, and to prescribe the appropriate terms and conditions therefore, among others;3 1 Section 9, Article II of the Constitution. -

The Philippines is a country with great possession of vari- ous beautiful natural resources that create a great impact on tourism, however, the indus- try is weaker in comparison to other destinations with similar possession. The main objec- tive is to gather useful information on the images and assumptions that residents in Finland believe about The Philippines. The interests of Finnish residents are determined as well as their concerns and willingness to travel to the Philippines are recognised. Understanding the importance of the destination image, its useful components, its for- mation and how it is measured are highlighted in the literature review of the report. To clearly understand and analyse the results, several theories and background studies about the Philippines as a destination and Finnish residents’ traveller behaviours are introduced. Quantitative research is the methodology used to systematically investigate the image of The Philippines through the traveler’s perspective. A survey was conducted primarily online through social media and other public forums to collect research data due to the global pandemic. The data collection was conducted at the turn of 2019 and 2020 and re- ceived 93 samples. -

In response, authorities proposed various mul- timodal transport terminals around the periphery of the metropolis. However, there is a need to understand how these proposed terminals will impact existing transportation infrastructure and services as well as the current travel demand. This paper proposes a method that quantifies the nearness of any subject to any metric of interest, or in this case, the location of the terminal based on its proximity to existing transit supply and demand at different points in the transport network. It involves a simple methodology that requires only the spatial distribution of relevant transport planning data (e.g., public transport services, public transport passenger activity). It was found that the spatial distribution of the transport terminals in the study area is more closely related to the transit supply. Using the same methodology, several potential locations in Metro Manila (e.g., central terminal, terminal along a major junction) were assessed to see whether these are viable sites for a multimodal terminal. One scenario configuration was found to be better integrated with where trips start and/or end, while another seemed to improve integration of the existing railways. Republic of the Philippines Department of Transportation LAND TRANSPORTATION FRANCHISING & REGULATORY BOARD East Avenue, Quezon City MEMORANDUM CIRCULAR NO. 2020-051-B SUBJECT : ADDITIONAL ROUTES ALLOWED FOR THE OPERATION OF PROVINCIAL BUSESENTERING METRO MANILA DURING THE PERIOD OF GCQ/MGCQ WHEREAS, pursuant to the guidelines of the Department of Transportation (DOTr) for a calibrated and gradual opening of public transportation in Metro Manila and those in nearby provinces, the Board has since then made the necessary monitoring on the daily operations of the initial routes allowed to operate; WHEREAS, on 25 September 2020, the Board issued Memorandum Circular No. 2020- 051which allowed the resumption of operations of select Provincial Bus routes entering Metro Manila; WHEREAS, under Item IIof MC 2020-051, the Board may issue additional routes to resume operations upon approval and coordination with the concerned Local Government Unit (LGU); WHEREAS, based on the monitoring and coordination with local government units across the country, the concerned LGUs of Ormoc, Palompon, Tacloban, Maasin, Catarman, and Laoang have allowed the resumption of operations of PUBs travelling to and from Metro Manila; NOW THEREFORE, for and in consideration of the foregoing, the Board hereby allows the additional routes (attached as ANNEX “A”) for Provincial Buses to operate to and from Metro Manila starting 02 November 2020or as may be allowed by the Inter-Agency Task Force on Emerging Infectious Diseases (IATF-EIF). The provisions of MC 2020-051 shall be applicable herein. In lieu of the Special Permit, the corresponding QR CODE shall be issued to the operator prior to operation. Said QR Code shall be downloaded at www.ltfrb.gov.ph and which must be printed by the operator (size : 8.5”x 11” short bond paper) and displayed conspicuously by the operator in the front windshield of authorized unit (without affecting view of the driver).
