Outcomes of Food Security Projects in Yemen:

Implementing food security projects in Yemen through UN, international and national partners has led to a decrease in nutritional needs in governorates where these projects were implemented. Food security reports issued by UN and international organizations indicate that the possibility of famine in Yemen has decreased due to the support provided to the country by donors, which include KSrelief. An OCHA report indicates that 56% of the 18.8 million people in need of food security in Yemen has been covered by the 2019 Yemen Humanitarian Response Plan, and that food aid was delivered to 10.5 million beneficiaries between the beginning of 2019 and mid-2019.

Outcomes of Shelter and Non-food Items Projects in Yemen:

KSrelief’s responses to crises and natural disasters in Yemen during the reporting period in the shelter and non-food items sector led to a decrease in the impact of these crises and disasters on the members of the public who were exposed to them. In its reports, OCHA praised KSrelief’s efforts to support Yemen. The aid provided in this sector help to alleviate the suffering of Yemeni IDPs forced to flee their homes due to violence. The center has provided ongoing shelter aid and non-food aid to secure the basic needs of all IDPs. Aid was delivered to nearly 900,000 out of 3 million people in need, according to reports on the UN Yemen Humanitarian Response Plan for the period from 1 January 2019 to mid-2019; therefore, aid was able to reach 31% of its targeted beneficiaries.

Outcomes of Multi-Sector Projects in Yemen:

KSrelief implemented many multi-sector projects in cooperation with local partners to support IDPs with food, shelter and non-food items. The aid contributed to alleviating the suffering of Yemeni families displaced from Houthi-controlled areas by providing food baskets on a monthly and continuing basis; other items included tents, blankets, rugs, toys and Eid clothes for children.

Reports related to therapeutic feeding issued by the center’s partners indicate that the percentage of malnutrition in the Yemeni regions has decreased due to the nutritional health support provided by donors, including the aid provided by KSrelief.

KSrelief’s implementation of these projects in the WASH sector through UN, international and local partners resulted in reducing the rate of water and sanitation needs in all affected and targeted countries, according to KSrelief reports. These projects were also implemented according to the activities needed for each country, whether rehabilitating and drilling water wells for drinking and personal use, increasing water sources, safe disposal of solid waste, providing toilets in local houses, combating epidemics by spraying pesticides to prevent outbreaks, or supporting and building capacities through health and environmental training and education. According to the UN’s 2019 Yemen Humanitarian Response Plan, an estimated 9.5 million people benefited from the support provided in this sector – 75% of the number of the 12.6 million beneficiaries targeted in the plan.
