The thundering waters of the Reichenbach waterfall led the way for the bold engineers when they laid the rails for the industrial cable car in 1899. Eye to eye with the wild stream and the mighty, 120 m high , the nostalgic funicular, with its faithfully reconstructed 24-seat wood car, drives up the mountain. Here, the famous detective called on his archenemy Professor Moriarty to fight - the violent fist fight ended with a fall into the depths. Into this very waterfall! From 1947 onwards, the Handeck 2 power plant was built, which was supplemented with an additional, modern machine in 2009. On a power plant tour through our labyrinth of tunnels you will experience three generations of power plants and almost 100 years of power plant history and electricity production from hydropower. Even the ride on the steam cog railway from Brienz to the Rothorn is an experience. An unmatched beauty is the subsequent high-altitude hike on well-laid, partially secured path from Rothorn to Schönbüel. Nature trail.
