NON-RESIDENT GUIDE EXEMPTION INFORMATION SHEET

• An annual administration fee of $150 Canadian funds payable to the Minister of Finance, Province of New Brunswick must accompany each application.

• You must show proof of owning, and paying New Brunswick Property Taxes on, real property with buildings and improvements assessed at a minimum of $25,000.

• Undeveloped property will not qualify for a guide exemption.

• Your current “New Brunswick Real Property Assessment and Tax Notice” must accompany your application.

• Joint owners shall have a real property value of $25,000 times the number of owners. Each owner must make a separate application. Number of exemptions not to exceed 5.

• An exemption for one individual (at a time) while accompanied by property owner will be considered with property owner’s application at no additional charge. Specify name(s) and relationship(s) on application where indicated.

• You may apply for combined hunting and angling exemptions (one fee of $150.00).

• Hunting guide exemptions will be considered for the Wildlife Management Zone where the property is located. Click here to see the Wildlife Management Zones.

• Angling guide exemptions are only issued for stretches of water considered to be “Guide Required Waters”. Such waters are identified in the current angling summary as well as in the Guide Required Waters information sheet included with this information package.

• With respect to guide exemptions for angling on the River system: (1) on Crown open (public) waters, the exemption applies only to a specific section of river as indicated in the enclosed information sheet. You must apply for the section where your property is located. (2) exemptions are valid for private waters on the entire length of the river. However, permission to angle in private waters is not implied and must be granted by the owner.

• Guide exemptions are not transferable nor are they refundable in the case of non-use.

• Guide exemptions are reviewed on an annual basis and no long-term commitment is inferred.

The following describes the upper and lower limits of the stretch of the river on which you may apply for a Guide Exemption. Your property must be located within the limits described to qualify for an exemption on that stretch.

In the case of angling exemptions on the System, they will no longer apply to Crown Open (public) Waters along the entire length of the river. Exemptions will be granted for specific sections as indicated in the enclosed information. You must apply for the section(s) where your property is located.

Exemptions are valid for private waters on the entire length of the river. Permission to angle in private water is not implied and must be granted by the owner.
