THROUGH THE LENS – LONDON’S TRANSPORT THROUGH THE LENS OF JASON CROSS by Jason Cross A report of the LURS meeting at All Souls Clubhouse on Tuesday 14 May 2019 Jason began the meeting by informing the audience that some subjects were away from London Underground but 70% were related. Jason advised that he did not use a drone but a 10m pole for the aerial shots. The camera at the end is connected by a cable to a tablet which is used to take the photographs. Jason split the photographs in his presentation under the following headings: S STOCK MOVES • Melton Mowbray station with a pair of class 20s taking an S8 unit to Old Dalby for ATO testing. • An S7 unit at Old Dalby with temporary ATO equipment bolted to the front. • An unexpected shot of an S Stock unit being hauled by a class 08 diesel shunter at Old Dalby. • Also at Old Dalby Jason captured a Crossrail Aventra class 345 on test. • Units are moved from Bombardier at Derby to Old Dalby and then on to London usually by the Rail Operations Group (ROG). The next photograph showed top and tailed ROG class 37s on a Class 710 London Overground unit. • Jason then captured a ROG class 37 hauling a Crossrail class 345 at Harrowden Junction. • Two more shots then showed class 345s at Liverpool Street and Paddington where they are in service until Crossrail opens. RAILTOURS, CHARTER AND HERITAGE TRAINS • Class 87 number 87.002 was shown at Paddington on a GBRf railtour. This locomotive, which is usually used on the empty stock of the Caledonian Sleeper, was only the second electric locomotive to be seen at Paddington.

TfL Corporate Archives Research Guides Research Guide No 16: A Brief History of the Central Line The Central line has the distinction of enabling the longest scheduled journey without changing (West Ruislip to Epping, 34 miles). It opened in 1900 as the Central London Railway, between Shepherds Bush and Bank, and received most of its extensions shortly after the Second World War. In the early 1990s, the line was resignalled and received new trains and automatic driving, retaining the train operator for door control and emergencies. This research guide is intended as an introduction to the story of the development of the Central Line. Page 1 of 15 1. Background 1.1 Ealing has quite an extensive rail and Underground (Tube) network predominately arranged on a radial basis to and from central London. The Central, District and Piccadilly lines as well as the Heathrow Express, Heathrow Connect, Great Western Railway, Chiltern and London Overground all serve stations within the borough. However, whilst there are strong east-west, radial connections, there are limitations on north-south, orbital connections to other parts of west London to and from Ealing. The network coverage is best in the east and central of the borough with most of these areas being within a 12 minute walk (960 metres) of at least one station.

Station Codes
Three Letter Abbreviations – Station Codes The table below shows all the different systems/business units which use a TLA to identify a station. It maps each station to each TLA in each system. This list was first compiled in 2012 and it reveals that there are several duplications and alternates due to a legacy of business units acting independently. As the codes are used in a wide range of information systems, many of which are externally owned, it is not practical to change them. In the event of a new station being commissioned which requires a new code please contact the LU Head of Engineering Information The rules for assigning a new TLA are described in the LU Location Coding System Standard S1035 Key: Green = Unique. Everyone uses this code for this station and the code is unique, i.e. not used elsewhere for another station. Amber = Alternates Exist. EXECUTIVE SUMMARY 1.1. The Council and the Old Oak and Park Royal Development Corporation (OPDC) received a joint application, for: (1) the designation of a neighbourhood area to be known as the Old Oak Neighbourhood Area; and (2) the designation of a group known as the Interim Old Oak Neighbourhood Forum as the neighbourhood forum for this area. The application can be viewed at Appendix A. 1.2. The proposed neighbourhood area falls partly within the Council's planning control and partly within the OPDC’s planning control. The majority of the neighbourhood area falls within OPDC's area. The area boundary can be viewed at Figure 1. 1.3. The Council is only responsible for deciding the area located within LBHF planning control. The OPDC will be determining the part of the Application pertaining to the OPDC at Board on 12th September 2017.
