Royal Ambassador Resource Book Royal Ambassador Resource Book How to Become a Christian God created the universe. He created all the people on the earth with the intent of having fellowship with them forever. But people do wrong things. The Bible calls those wrong things “sin.” Sinful people cannot remain in fellowship with the holy, pure, righteous God. And there is nothing they themselves can do about the problem. God sent His Son, Jesus, into the world to live a sinless life and make the only perfect sacrifice for our sin. The Bible puts it this way: “He made [Jesus] who did not know sin to be sin for us, so that we might become the righteousness of God in Him” (2 Corinthians 5:21). But Jesus is not dead! On the third day after His crucifixion, He was raised to life again. Now all those who confess their sin (admit the wrong they’ve done) and trust Jesus (believe in Him, turn away from their sin) receive God’s righteousness and are adopted into God’s family. You can receive this free gift of salvation today. Pray, asking God to forgive your sin. Put your trust in Jesus.     he collection of essays presented in “Devotional Cross-Roads: Practicing Love of God in Medieval Gaul, Jerusalem, and Saxony” investigates test case witnesses of TChristian devotion and patronage from Late Antiquity to the Late Middle Ages, set in and between the Eastern and Western Mediterranean, as well as Gaul and the regions north of the Alps. Devotional practice and love of God refer to people – mostly from the lay and religious elite –, ideas, copies of texts, images, and material objects, such as relics and reliquaries. The wide geographic borders and time span are used here to illustrate a broad picture composed around questions of worship, identity, reli- gious affiliation and gender. Among the diversity of cases, the studies presented in this volume exemplify recurring themes, which occupied the Christian believer, such as the veneration of the Cross, translation of architecture, pilgrimage and patronage, emergence of iconography and devotional patterns. These essays are representing the research results of the project “Practicing Love of God: Comparing Women’s and Men’s Practice in Medieval Saxony” guided by the art historian Galit Noga-Banai, The Hebrew University of Jerusalem, and the histori- an Hedwig Röckelein, Georg-August-University Göttingen. This year there were 91 youths from Mississippi and Louisiana participating in the event. On Friday, all the hunters checked in at Bass Pro Shops in Pearl and received their hunting license which was provided by the Foundation for Mississippi Wildlife, Fisheries, and Parks. Then they visited the Mag- nolia Rifle and Pistol Club where MDWFP Conservation Officers and biologists assisted them with sighting in In Memory of their rifles. Activities at Bass Pro Shops included MDWFP Fisheries Bureau helping with fishing, NWTF Bill Lunceford Jake’s Take Aim BB gun shooting, the Jackson Zoo Mo- bile with critters, the Mississippi Museum of Natural Sci- 1945-2007 ence with snakes and turtles, and MDWFP Wildlife Bureau with an airboat and a couple of alligators. Abstract This paper presents a broad-based synthesis of the general ecology of the ponderosa pine ecosystem in the Black Hills. This synthesis contains information and results of research on ponderosa pine from numerous sources within the Black Hills ecosystem. We discuss the silvical characteristics of ponderosa pine, natural disturbances that govern ecosystem processes, wildlife habitat and management, various silvicultural methods to manage ponderosa pine forests, and watershed management of the Black Hills. He holds a B.S. in Outdoor Recreation, and M.S. and Ph.D. degrees in Silviculture from Colorado State University. A Colorado native, Dr. Shepperd has been with the Forest Service since 1969. The author of over 70 research publications, he is a recognized expert on the ecology, growth, and management of Rocky Mountain Forests.
