Qualche campionessa ha confidato che gareggiare a Cortina è come entrare in un tempio della velocità, che vincere sull’Olympia delle Tofane è una tesi di laurea per entrare nella storia dello sci. E noi siamo orgogliosi, cerchiamo ogni anno di crescere e migliorare per rendere le nostre gare sempre più attraenti e spettacolari per atleti, tecnici e spettatori. Anche in questa stagione siamo pronti ad ospitare la Coppa del Mondo, una discesa ed un superG, in attesa anche della prova di gigante che tornerà sulla pista ampezzana nel 2017.
C’è anche la candidatura ad ospitare sulla nostra neve i Mondiali 2021 a stimolarci ancora di più, un’avventura che affrontiamo con la serenità della nostra esperienza, forti delle quasi 80 gare che abbiamo organizzato dal 1993, anno del rientro definitivo di Cortina nel circuito iridato. Dietro alle quinte c’è sempre il lavoro oscuro di tecnici, amministratori, volontari, tutti portano il loro contributo perché le prove di Coppa siano una cartolina da inviare al mondo, per mostrare le nostre bellezze, la nostra ospitalità e le prerogative di una terra unica.
Per questa possibilità ringraziamo la Federazione Internazionale, quella italiana nella persona del presidente Flavio Roda e tutti coloro che ci aiutano per la miglior riuscita dell’evento. Cortina aspetta tutti a braccia aperte.

There are champions of the Ladies' World Cup who have confided that racing in Cortina is like entering in the temple of speed, that winning on the “Olympia delle Tofane” is a master degree for being part of the skiing history. And we are proud of it, we try to grow and improve every year to offer more attractive and spectacular races for athletes, technicians and spectators. We are ready to host the World Cup also this season, a Downhill and a superG race, waiting for the Giant Slalom that will be back on Cortina's slopes in 2017.
There is also the bid for the World Championships 2021 to challenge us even more, an adventure that we face serenely thanks to our experience of almost 80 races organized from the 1993 on, the year of the official return of Cortina to the WC circuit. Behind the scenes there is always the hidden work of technicians, officers, volunteers, everybody gives his contribution to make the World Cup races a postcard for the whole world, to show our beauties, our hospitality and the qualities of a unique territory.
We thank the International Federation and the Italian Federation represented by its President Flavio Roda, for this opportunity, and those who help us for the success of the event. Cortina welcomes everybody with open arms.

Media Shuttle Shuttles for accredited media operators depart from the media center, and in less than ten minutes lead directly to the finish line of the Olympia delle Tofane slope. The same media shuttles are available to the media accredited to return to the media center from the parterre of the race until one hour after the end of the flower ceremony / awards.
Press Conferences Press conferences, moderated in Italian and English, take place at the Media Center shortly after the end of the Flower Ceremony. The press conferences will be broadcasted live on the Periscope profile of Cortina d’Ampezzo Ski World Cup.

CENTRO STAMPA | MEDIA CENTER
Il centro stampa, facilmente raggiungibile anche a piedi dal centro cittadino, è allestito presso il Centro Congressi Alexander Girardi. Inaugurato nel dicembre del 2006 la struttura nasce per soddisfare le più diverse esigenze del settore congressuale, ricercando al tempo stesso la continuità con la cultura ampezzana. La sala teatro è un ampio spazio a piano inclinato, modulabile, pensato per adattarsi ad ogni necessità il cui ampio foyer è pensato per accogliere gli ospiti: dotato di zona accrediti e guardaroba, è concepito, inoltre, per ospitare un'area espositiva e servizi catering. Nelle adiacenze del centro congressuale è situato un ampio parcheggio.
Per chi avesse voglia di approfondire la cultura locale è possibile visitare alcuni importanti spazi museali: il museo etnografico delle Regole d'Ampezzo, il museo paleontologico Rinaldo Zardini e il punto informativo del museo della Grande Guerra.

The media center, easily reachable on foot from the center of Cortina d’Ampezzo, is set up at the Alexander Girardi Congress Center. Unveiled in December 2006, the structure was created to meet the various needs of the conferences industry, while seeking continuity with the culture of our location in the heart of the Dolomites. The theater room is a large space with an inclined floor, modular, designed to suit every need with its large foyer designed to accommodate our guests: equipped with an accreditation area and a wardrobe, it is designed also to host an exhibition area and catering services. Adjacent to the convention center is located a large parking area.
For anyone who wants to learn more about the local culture, there are some important museum spaces to be visited: the ethnographic museum of the “Regole d’Ampezzo”, the Rinaldo Zardini paleontological museum and the information point of the Great War museum.
The media center is the departure point of the shuttles for accredited operators: in less than ten minutes they lead directly to the finish area of the Olympia delle Tofane slope.

L’OLYMPIA DELLE TOFANE | THE OLYMPIA DELLE TOFANE SLOPE
Quell’immagine in bianco e nero un po’ sgranata di Toni Sailer che sfreccia accanto al roccione del Pomedes è nella storia dello sci. Giochi Olimpici di Cortina 1956: per la prima volta il mondo poté vedere, grazie alle pionieristiche riprese televisive della Rai, la bellezza della pista Olympia delle Tofane. Se non fosse per la velocità che mette paura questo tracciato sembrerebbe una strada delle fate tracciata fra gli abeti ed i larici sul pendio che scende dalla Tofana di Mezzo.
Ma la storia su questa neve ha scritto diverse delle sue pagine, dai primi successi di Anne Marie Moser Proell negli anni Settanta, sino alle magie di Lindsey Vonn delle ultime stagioni. Tutte le campionesse vere si sono esaltate sulla Olympia delle Tofane, da Picabo Street, a Katja Seizinger, a Renate Goetschl, sino alla nostra Isolde Kostner, perché su questa pista si può fare la differenza. Ci vogliono coraggio, tecnica, talento e strategia per vincere qui. Dalla partenza, al muro del Pomedes, alle curve sulla Diagonale, al tuffo nello Scarpadon, sino alla dolce pendenza di Rumerlo si può trovare velocità.
Il vero pericolo è farsi distrarre dalla bellezza delle montagne davanti, il Cristallo, il Faloria. Ma per chi parte per vincere non c’è tempo per guardarsi intorno. L’Olympia delle Tofane leva il fiato, chiede molto alle atlete, ma regala spettacolo.

If it were not for the speed that puts fear, this track seems a fairy road drawn between firs and larches on the slope leading down from the Middle Tofana.
But the history has written several of its pages on this snow, from the early successes of Anne Marie Moser Proell in the Seventies, until the magic of Lindsey Vonn in recent seasons. All true champions have enhanced themselves on the Olympia delle Tofane, from Picabo Street, to Katja Seizinger, to Renate Goetschl, to finally our Isolde Kostner, because on this slope the athletes can make the difference. It requires courage, technique, talent and strategy to win here.
From the start, to the wall of Pomedes, to the curves on the Diagonal, to the dip in Scarpadon, until the gentle slope of Rumerlo you can find speed. The real danger is to be distracted by the beauty of the mountains ahead, Cristallo and Faloria. But for those who start to win there is no time to look around.

Ideata dall’agenzia creativa cortinese Krealab, il logo esprime in pochi tratti l’essenza di una località che non ha uguali al mondo. Una ventata di freschezza per un evento che il Mondo ci invidia.
LA CORONA Non poteva non essere ricordata per la Regina delle Dolomiti. La bellezza aristocratica di Cortina, la conca ampezzana inondata di sole che fa da contrasto alla Dolomia delle sue rocce, alla neve sulle sue vette.
LA PISTA Disegnata fra le vette, l’Olympia delle Tofane, una leggenda nella storia della Coppa del Mondo, un tempio della velocità, il sogno di vittoria di tante campionesse e che adesso aspetta anche i Mondiali.

A crown, the slope, the mountains, here is the new graphic logo of the Ski World Cup of Cortina d’Ampezzo. The change fits in a consolidated tradition, built up over decades of experience. Designed by the creative agency Krealab of Cortina, the logo expresses in few strokes the soul of a site that has no equals in the world. A fresh take for an event that the entire world envies us.
THE CROWN Is a link to the Queen of the Dolomites. The aristocratic beauty of Cortina, her valley flooded by the sun that creates a contrast with the dolomitic rock of the mountains and the snow on her peaks.
THE SLOPE Laying among the peaks, the “Olympia delle Tofane”, an icon in the World Cup's history, a speed temple, the dream of victory of several champions and a slope that is now waiting for the World Championships as well.
THE MOUNTAINS The incomparable peaks that surround Cortina, no coincidence they are five, a connection to the Olympic past, five as the continents to point out that the World Cup races are a world- wide event.
The international breath of the event is also confirmed by the pay-off The Queen of Speed that will be the official hashtag for the appointment on social networks as Facebook, Twitter, Instagram and Google Plus.

Le gare di Coppa del mondo si disputano sulla pista Olympia delle Tofane: un nome carico di storia e gloria. Un tracciato che ricorda i fasti dei VII Giochi olimpici invernali 1956. Dal 26 gennaio al 5 febbraio di quell’anno si scrissero alcune delle pagine più belle dello sport bianco. L’asso austriaco Anton Sailer vinse, primo sciatore nella storia, tutte le gare olimpiche in calendario, che allora erano solamente tre: discesa, slalom e gigante. Cortina ricorda il sessantesimo anniversario delle Olimpiadi e la lunga storia dello sci nella conca d’Ampezzo, iniziata con la prima gara nel 1901. In un crescendo di eventi internazionali, nel 1941 ci sono i Mondiali, poi declassati per la guerra, nel 1956 le Olimpiadi.
Nel 1954 lo Sci Club Cortina organizza la gara di discesa “Coppa Ilio Colli”, per commemorare il suo giovane atleta, scomparso prematuramente a Madesimo. Le gare internazionali si susseguono negli anni fino a che, nel 1969, entrano a far parte del circuito di Coppa del Mondo, appena istituito. Prima gli uomini e poi, dal 1975, le gare femminili, sino al 1984. Si riprende nel 1990, con il recupero di due gare di discesa libera maschile: nella prima trionfa in casa Kristian Ghedina, per la sua prima vittoria in Coppa del Mondo. Un successo organizzativo e sportivo che induce Cortina a riprendere un discorso interrotto: dal 1993 ad oggi si sommano discese, si superano i record. La pista Olympia accoglie cinque gare in otto giorni, nel 1993; quattro consecutive si disputano negli anni 1994, 1997, 1998, 1999, 2004, 2005 e 2014. Le più grandi campionesse si esaltano, su questa pista unica. La regina della Regina è Lindsey Vonn, pronta a correre di nuovo, in questa edizione 2016, per la storia. Per la leggenda.
The FIS Ski World Cup races occurs along the Olympia delle Tofane: a name loaded of history and glory. A slope that reminds the splendour of the VII Winter Olympic Games in 1956. From January 26th to February 5th of that year, the most beautiful pages of winter sport history have been written. The Austrian ace Anton Sailer won, first in the history, all the races in the program, that time only three: downhill, slalom and giant slalom. Cortina reminds the 60th anniversary of the Olympic Games and the long history of the ski in Ampezzo valley started in 1901 with the first competition. A crescendo of international events: in 1941 the World Championships, downgraded cause of the Second World War, and in 1956 the Olympic Games. In 1954 the Cortina Ski Club organized the downhill “Coppa Ilio Colli” to commemorate its young athlete, prematurely passed away in Madesimo.
This international race took place along the years until 1969 when it began to be part of the World Cup barely instituted. At the beginning the men and later, since 1975, the ladies until 1984. Cortina started again in 1990 with the replacement of two men downhills: in the first of two the local Kristian Ghedina triumphed for his first victory in the World Cup. An organizational and sport success that persuaded Cortina to get back where the history was interrupted: since 1993 to nowadays, new races have been added and records have been defeated. The Olympia delle Tofane welcomed five races in eight days in 1993, four consecutive took place in 1994, 1997, 1998, 1999, 2004, 2005 and 2014. The greatest champions have been glorified along this unique slope. The Queen of the Queens is Lindsey Vonn ready to compete again in this 2016 edition to be part of history, to be a legend.
