New media technologies have both enabled and necessitated an increased focus on user created content and audience participation within the context of public service media (PSM) worldwide and such practices are now embedded within the remit of these institutions. Projects that engage audiences as content creators and as participants in the creation of their own stories are now prevalent within PSM; however, these projects represent spaces of struggle: a variety of institutional and personal agendas intersect in ways that can be fruitful though at other times produce profound challenges. This thesis contributes to the wider conversation on audience participation in the PSM context by examining the tensions that emerge at this intersection of agendas, and the challenges and potentials these produce for the institution as well as the individuals whose participation it invites. The case study for this research – Heywire – represents one of the first instances of content-related participation within the ABC. -

It was approved by the Board on 11 September 2019 and provides a comprehensive review of the ABC’s performance and delivery in line with its Charter remit. The company achieved revenue of $127.3 million, 2% ahead of the IPO prospectus and growth of 15% year on year. EBITDA of $42.5 million and underlying NPATA of $27.4 million also outperformed IPO prospectus forecasts. Operating cashflow conversion continues to be above 90% providing a strong capital structure to support future growth. The Board congratulates the management team and staff of Isentia for these achievements. -

ASX Release FOR IMMEDIATE RELEASE 26 February 2021 Isentia Reports H1 FY21 Financial Results • Revenue of $41.8 million, down $10.4m on H1 FY201 • Cyber incident reduced revenue by $3.3m; $4.4m EBIT impact in H1 FY21 • Transformation program reduced cost base; total costs down $3.5m on pcp • Underlying EBITDA2 of $5.9m, down $6.9m on H1 FY20 • Net Profit After Tax before Amortisation (NPATA)3 loss of $5.2m • New 3-year debt facility of $46.6m; net debt of $30.3m at 31 December 2020 Isentia Group Limited (ASX: ISD) today released its financial results for the six months ended 31 December 2020. Isentia faced a number of challenges in the first half including a cyber incident that severely disrupted services in the December quarter and second waves of COVID-19 that affected operations in South East Asia. These factors, along with a highly competitive environment in Australia, led to a $10.4m decline in revenue to $41.8m. This was partly offset by ongoing transformation and efficiency programs which delivered an 8.9% reduction in total costs resulting in underlying EBITDA of $5.9m. The cyber incident is estimated to have reduced revenue by $3.3m in H1 FY21 as discounts and credits were provided to affected customers. Isentia also incurred additional remediation costs, leading to a direct EBIT impact of approximately $4.4m in the first half. The FY21 EBIT impact is expected to be $7.0-8.0m, slightly below previous guidance of $7.0-8.5m, and encompasses both the direct and downstream effects of the incident. -

During the year, the Board and management team continued to execute on its three-year strategic plan. We improved our operational reliability and performance with significant investment in technology while continuing to take running costs out of the business. Our ongoing product development ensures that we have a strong point of difference in the breadth of our media coverage and relevance of the information we provide. Our investment to improve client experience has resulted in the faster delivery of content, the development of a scalable tech stack and reduced costs across data pipelines. Following a thorough review of our business portfolio to ensure that all areas were either strategically important or had the potential to make a positive contribution, we decided to exit the North Asia business. -
