The fi rst of the Centennial celebratory Banquets took place in New Jersey following our Annual Meeting in October 2017. It was a very joyous event and an appropriate fi rst of a salvo of many more such events to come. We also used this opportunity to honor our great donors the Avedisians and the Bilezikians. In March of 2018, the Lark Musical Society joined the AMAA to produce a Centennial Concert at the Ambassador Auditorium in Pasadena, where Beethoven’s Ninth Symphony “Ode to Joy” was performed together with Bruckner’s “Te Deum.” It was a very upbeat pro- Bgram very much in line with the mood of the Centennial celebrations. We then went around to Sydney, Australia for a weekend of Centennial Celebration events which were very expertly organized by Rev. Krikor Youmshajekian, President of AMA Australia. Invited guests included Arayik Harutyunyan, the State Minister of Artsakh, as well as pastors from the USA, Middle East, Armenia, France and South America. The Premier of New South Wales Gladys Berejiklian joined us for the Centennial Worship Service Sunday morning and congratulated the AMAA on the Centennial. The Banquet took place Sunday evening and it was well attended with many local community leaders participating. The month of May saw similar celebrations in Toronto and Montreal, Canada. We extend our words of gratitude to Mihran Jizmejian, President of AMA Canada, as well as Revs. Georges Dabbo and Hovhannes Svadjian and the cadres of volunteers who made these events truly memorable. Later in May we fl ew to Beirut for our Annual Meetings with the Near East Union as well as Haigazian University. The celebrations continued there with a Banquet at the Phoenicia Hotel on May 31st. This was a community-wide aff air with good representation at all levels. A Centennial thanksgiving service was also organized for Sunday afternoon at the First Church in Beirut with the participation of all the local churches. Our thanks to Rev. Megrditch Karageozian and Rev. Dr. Paul Haidostian for making these events possible. A week later we were in Paris where we had a meeting with all the pastors of the French Union and the Armenian Evangelical Fellowship of Europe that includes Belgium, Bulgaria, Germany, Greece, Holland and Turkey. The Centennial Celebration Banquet took place Saturday evening with many local dignitaries present including the Mayor of Issy-Les-Moulineaux. The Sunday morning service was dedicated to the AMAA Centennial with the participation of many pastors from the French Union. It was an upbeat and joyful event with a very good turnout. Our thanks to Revs. Jacques Tchoghandjian, Gilbert Léonian and Joel Mikaélian and all those who contributed to the success of these events. As I write this report in early August, the Youth Conference in Armenia has started already with the ambitious pro- gram of bringing together Armenian Evangelical youth from all over the world. Our hope is that these types of activities will entrench in our youth the Christian faith of their ancestors and the love of our historic Homeland. Later in September the celebrations will continue in Armenia. While in Armenia we will dedicate the newly built church complex in Gyumri. This building will house the sanctuary, the children’s after school day center and the administrative offi ces that are an integral part of our mission in Gyumri. Finally, in October we will bring the celebrations back to Los Angeles where we kicked off the Centennial in October 2016. Our mission continues in Armenia as in the past and now that the construction of the Gyumri church complex is complete we would like to turn our attention to the South-West district of Yerevan where we have an active church that’s functioning in a very dilapidated building. Our dream is to fi nd an appropriate piece of land in the vicinity of the Avedisian School, where we can build a church complex that’s appropriate for the South-West district church. In Aleppo, life is almost back to normal although the war is still going on to the south of the city. Eff orts to rebuild the damaged buildings have started and that includes the roof of the Emmanuel Church. The AMAA is actively involved in raising the funds necessary to complete the work. In Lebanon, our High Schools as well as the Haigazian University are facing fi nancial diffi culties. The community there continues to shrink because of emigration and those who stay behind in general do not have the means to shoulder the scholastic tuition. The AMAA continues to work with the institutions there to help them become more effi cient and hope- fully self-suffi
