Meadows Art Connections Patricia Meadows is best known for her support of living, regional artists, her love of the visual arts, and her expertise in placement and installation of both indoor and outdoor artwork. She has had experience in nearly every facet of the visual art world except owning a commercial gallery or working for a museum. She started as a painter, but her career took her to the administrative side as director, curator, juror, advocate, and advisor. She has co-founded and supported numerous organizations such as the Dallas Visual Art Center and the Emergency Artists Support League. She has organized and curated hundreds of exhibitions, nationally, statewide and locally, and has served as juror for shows throughout Texas. She has served on the board of directors, chaired, and advised countless committees for museums, and national, state, and local art organizations. She has been appointed by the governor and several mayors, through the years, to serve on boards and committees regarding the development of the arts, Uptown, and the Arts District. But, she says she is happiest when she is directing the installation of artwork – particularly big, cumbersome outdoor sculpture – which she has been doing for the past 20 years. It was her job and pleasure to organize and direct the placement of more than 300 works of art for Hall Office Park in Frisco, as well as the Texas Sculpture Walk for Hall Arts in the Dallas Arts District. Today, as president of her company, Art Connections, she consults with both corporate and private collectors regarding acquisitions, placement, installation, and maintenance of their art collections. • Top Questions About Character Animation
Top Questions About Character Animation What are some of the exciting aspects of character animation, and how is it different than other computer animation forms? The phrase computer animation is often used as a catch-all for many computer generated effects including spinning logos, Flash programming on the Web or special effects in movies. These are not character animation. Character animation is the process of giving life to a character, whether it is a dog that can talk, a drawn person or an animated object. Character animation creates personality. How long does it take one person to create one minute of animation? This is difficult to pinpoint, but it can take one animator about 16 – 20 weeks of full-time work to produce 60 seconds of animation.1 At Pixar Animation Studios, due to their high level of quality control, animators have been known to work on two minutes of film for a year or more. How many animators typically work on an animated feature film? It depends on the studio and its needs, so anywhere from 20 – 80 animators could be working on an animated feature film. What is the biggest myth about character animation? A lot of people believe that the computer does all of the work for the animator, but the reality is that the animator is only using the computer as a tool to create detailed animation frame by frame. What are some of the most challenging aspects of character animation? Character animators work in fun, collaborative, exciting and detailed environments. They need to have a high level of patience while working with the tiny movements of a character frame by frame.

  • Moonbot Studios: a Lunar Adventure in Louisiana
MOONBOT STUDIOS: A LUNAR ADVENTURE IN LOUISIANA Timothy D. Wise, Southern Arkansas University March 5, 2012 was a big day in Shreveport, Louisiana. Confetti flew and a brass band played as a parade made its way down Texas Street. Bill Joyce and Brandon Oldenburg, the creative partners in charge of Moonbot Studios, rode in convertibles and held their Oscar statues high. Managing Partner Lampton Enochs and Trish Farnsworth-Smith, the studio’s head of production, rode behind them. The Byrd High School marching band played a special arrangement of “Pop Goes the Weasel,” and Moonbot’s artists, animators, programmers, and administrative staff tossed Moonpies to the crowd from their cars and floats.1 In May, 2011, Moonbot Studios of Shreveport, Louisiana, released its first project, an animated short called The Fantastic Flying Books of Mr. Morris Lessmore on Apple’s iTunes Store. By July, partly in response to an article in Fast Company, sales of the film had skyrocketed to the top of iTune’s charts. By Wednesday, July 14, the Morris Lessmore film short was the top selling film on iTunes. The New York Times declared the iPad App, created in collaboration with Twin Engine Labs, another Shreveport start-up2 to be “The best...a visually stunning bit of work with entertaining interactive features.”3 MSNBC.com’s Gadgetbox declared the app, “a must-have interactive book.”4 The beginning of 2012 brought even more excitement. At the end of January, the Moonbots discovered that Morris Lessmore had been nominated for an Academy Award for best animated short. At the studio, the Moonbot creative team was ecstatic.

López Varela (Universidad Nacional Autónoma de México) An archaeology of media approach guides this analysis of the film Coco, a 3D animated fiction movie inspired by the Day of the Dead or Dia de los muertos in Mexico, and released by Pixar Animation Studios, a subsidiary of Walt Disney Studios, in 2017. In particular, I explore the tensions and contradictions within Pixar's most successful movie at the box office in taking a stand against Donald Trump's presentation of Mexicans as "rapists and drug-trafficking criminals". I argue that this film, despite its praise by audiences and critics as a 'pro-Mexico' film, does ultimately not vindicate Mexico's "good people". Instead, it promotes an institutionalized nationalist image of Mexico's heritage and identity, which goes back to the nineteenth century. Considering that Disney has the largest global market share in the film industry, Coco's director Lee Unkrich's good intentions to make this film 'right' help to disseminate and support the Mexican government in its reconstruction of an imagined sociocultural homogeneity, which marginalizes non-dominant ways of life in a culturally rich and diverse country. FREE THE ART OF DREAMWORKS ANIMATION PDF Ramin Zahed,Dreamworks,Jeffrey Katzenberg | 324 pages | 15 Apr 2014 | Abrams | 9781419711664 | English | New York, United States Book Review: The Art of DreamWorks Animation: Celebrating 20 Years of Art | Parka Blogs This is an excellent retrospective artbook that looks back the concept art created for DreamWorks Animation films. The Art of Dreamworks Animation the past 16 years, they have made 30 films, from the Antz in to Home which is the last film to be included in this book. Behind the subdued white cover are pages after pages of art. The layout is simple and effective at playing up the beautiful artworks. There are medium sized images to those that extend to the edges. It's a good mixture with some traditional animated and stop motion films in addition to the 3D animated films which represent the trend nowadays. Note that many films in that list have dedicated artbooks. The Art of DreamWorks Animation collects only selected pieces of art from each film, and many artworks especially from the more recent films are already featured in their dedicated artbooks. Artbooks for earlier films are either non- existent, or out of print, so it's great to see artworks from those films here. The artworks featured are absolutely beautiful. It's a thrill to see the concept art and production design. There are character designs, environment art and beat boards of scenes. The quality is just top notch. You The Art of Dreamworks Animation over pages of art for the price of a book, it's seriously a good deal.
