Investment in transport infrastructure projects involves a wide range of direct and indirect effects, out of which the present research work aims to highlight spatial network analysis and influence of road network in urban development. Materials and Methods: Spread and diameter of road network have been evaluated for five community development (C.D.) blocks representative from North, South, East, West and central part of North Twenty Four Parganas district respectively considered as study area on the basis of major roads. Space-potential map has been constructed on the basis of space-potential values derived at 12 urban centres throughout the district to assess the extent of regional accessibility. Again, it is of prime concern that the benefits of socio-economic facilities are not uniformly distributed over the study area and therefore categorical classification of two samples villages from each of the five C.D.
