PHPT Open Register Tested Negative for the PHPT Gene INTERNATIONAL OPEN REGISTER Last Saved: 19 January 2020 PRIMARY HYPERPARATHYROID DISEASE (PHPT) (Animal Health Diagnostic Centre - College of Veterinary Medicine, Cornell University USA) Below is a list of Keeshond dogs, sorted by their country, of residence, with their national Kennel Club registration numbers, their sire and dam, and giving the date when they were DNA tested for the dominantly inherited Hyperparathryoid disease. The result of the test can be either 'Positive' for the PHPT gene or 'Negative' for the PHPT gene. There is no carrier state for a dominantly inherited gene and it only takes one Positive parent to pass the gene onto approximately 50% of their progeny. The progeny of two gene negative parents, irrespective of whether they are Hereditarily Negative (Negative by Descent) or Tested Negative, will be Hereditarily Negative (Negative by Descent). Where any of the dogs listed have been imported and their country of origin has been confirmed this is shown in parenthesis, in preference to the standard (Imp) identifier. "We are building, right now, incredible military equipment at a level that nobody has ever seen before. We have no choice. We have to do it with the adversaries we have out there. We have, I call it the super-duper missile, and I heard the other night - 17 times faster than what they have right now," Trump said in the Oval Office. Trump's comments came during a White House event where he signed the 2020 Armed Forces Day Proclamation. During the ceremony, the administration also unveiled the flag of the country's newest military wing, the Space Force. It's the first new military flag to be unveiled in 72 years. "Space is going to be the future, both in terms of defense and offense and so many other things," Trump said. "And already, from what I'm hearing and based on reports, we're now the leader in space." A Pentagon spokesman was asked about the "super-duper missile" during a subsequent press call and referred reporters back to the White House.

  • Wild Dances and Dying Wolves: Simulation, Essentialization, and National Identity at the Eurovision Song Contest
Wild dances and dying wolves: simulation, essentialization, and national identity at the Eurovision Song Contest ABSTRACT This paper examines Eurovision as a site for the public representation of the nation and explores the tendency towards simulation in such representations. The contest’s transnational audience and implication in commercial practices create pressures towards representing the nation through simplified, well-known images. A critique of globalization from south-east Europe argues that cultural production from marginalized countries which emphasizes local distinctiveness is a sign of structural inequality. This critique is tested against representational strategies from Ukraine, Bosnia-Herzegovina, Serbia and Croatia. Eurovision is then related to tourism through an analysis of the representation of the Mediterranean in Eurovision performances, which reflect symbolic hierarchies constructed by travel writing since the Enlightenment. Finally, the paper considers the overarching representational power exerted by host states. Key words: Eurovision Song Contest, popular music, folklore, national identity, Croatia, Bosnia-Herzegovina, Serbia, Ukraine Word count: 9, 235 words including notes and references This paper seeks to explore the tendency towards simulation in contemporary public representations of the nation through a historical account of the representation of national tradition in the Eurovision Song Contest since 2004. Eurovision offers two forms of opportunity for nations to be represented: the production of a live performance (and often a promotional video) by each competitor, and the promotion of the host city and country on the part of the state broadcaster organizing the event. This paper contends that the nature of the Eurovision audience (with viewers in more than 40 countries inside and outside Europe) and the commercial practices in which Eurovision is implicated create pressures towards public representations which play on simplified, well-known images of a country or region.

PROLÍNÁNÍ WORLD MUSIC A KOMERČNÍ HUDBY V ČESKÝCH MÉDIÍCH Milan Tesař, Česká republika Minulý týden jsem dostal z vydavatelství EMI tiskovou zprávu tohoto znění: „Ukrajinská hvězda Ruslana zazářila v loňském roce na cenách Eurovize a World Music Awards v Las Vegas. Její debutové album Diki Tanci získalo na Slovensku platinové ocenění v prodejích a v Čechách je zlatá deska na spadnutí. Singly i videa drtí veškeré hudební hitparády. Za obě videa Wild Dances i Oj zagraj mi muzičenku získala červené ESO. Druhé album Wild Dances přináší pro milovníky této populární ukrajinské dračice rytmické a dravé skladby v angličtině + zajímavé remixy, které jistě ocení návštěvníci bouřlivých diskoték. Singl Dance With the Wolves úspěšně nastartoval vydání Ruslanina druhého alba Wild Dances.“ Tento odstavec by bezesporu stál za hlubší textovou analýzu. My na ni zde bohužel nemáme dostatek času, a proto si všimněme pouze několika detailů. Hned v první větě stojí vedle sebe ceny Eurovize jako typický příklad nejpokleslejšího proudu pop music a vedle nich jakési „World Music Awards“. Nenechme se mýlit. S žánrem, kterým se zde zabýváme, tyto ceny nemají vůbec nic společného, základem pojmenování není „world music“, nýbrž „music awards“, přičemž přívlastek „world“ pouze rozvíjí obecné označení „hudební ceny“. Nejde tedy o „ceny world music“, nýbrž opravdu o „(celo)světové hudební ceny“. Podle stránky www.worldmusicawards.com se jedná o ocenění interpretům nejprodávanějších desek v celosvětovém měřítku. Vedle univerzálních kategorií, ve kterých například loni zabodovali Usher, Norah Jones či Outkast, mají ceny i speciální kategorie, ve kterých dochází k ocenění nejlépe prodávaného umělce afrického, australského, britského, kanadského, čínského, holandského, 42 francouzského, německého, řeckého, irského, italského, japonského, „latinského“ (latinskoamerického), ruského, skandinávského, švýcarského a ukrajinského1).

  • Gender Asymmetries in Slovak Personal Nouns Dissertation Presented in Partial Fulfillment of the Requirements for the Degree
Gender Asymmetries in Slovak Personal Nouns Dissertation Presented in Partial Fulfillment of the Requirements for the Degree Doctor of Philosophy in the Graduate School of the Ohio State University By Mgr. Marcela Michálková, M.Phil. Graduate Program in Slavic and East European Languages and Literatures The Ohio State University 2009 Dissertation Committee: Daniel E. Collins, Advisor Charles E. Gribble Brian D. Joseph Copyright by Marcela Michálková 2009 Abstract The aim of the current study is to reveal asymmetries in the linguistic encoding of male and female persons in Slovak by analyzing ample lexical material from a synchronic perspective. Specifically, I examine a corpus of over 60,000 lemmas, document a sub-corpus of approximately 6,000 personal nouns, devise a taxonomy model of sixteen semantic classes based on Dickins (2001), and classify the Slovak personal nouns by semantic class. I further examine in detail the issue of the relationship between significant types of asymmetries (lexical gaps determined by biological, social, cultural and/or historical roles of men and women within the family unit, community, or society; gaps which are attributed to formal constraints; parallel designations for women and men with a semantic difference; epicene nouns; and double-gender nouns) and the semantic classes in which those asymmetries tend to occur. Based on the linguistic evidence, I determine which semantic classes show tendencies towards symmetrical gender relationships, and which classes resist forming parallel terms for male and female referents. The current analysis of the Slovak data contrasts with numerous articles dealing with gender asymmetry in that it shows that the tendency towards gender symmetry is greater than in some other related languages, for instance Czech and Polish.
