PHPT Open Register
Tested Negative for the PHPT Gene INTERNATIONAL OPEN REGISTER Last Saved: 19 January 2020 PRIMARY HYPERPARATHYROID DISEASE (PHPT) (Animal Health Diagnostic Centre - College of Veterinary Medicine, Cornell University USA) Below is a list of Keeshond dogs, sorted by their country, of residence, with their national Kennel Club registration numbers, their sire and dam, and giving the date when they were DNA tested for the dominantly inherited Hyperparathryoid disease. The result of the test can be either 'Positive' for the PHPT gene or 'Negative' for the PHPT gene. There is no carrier state for a dominantly inherited gene and it only takes one Positive parent to pass the gene onto approximately 50% of their progeny. The progeny of two gene negative parents, irrespective of whether they are Hereditarily Negative (Negative by Descent) or Tested Negative, will be Hereditarily Negative (Negative by Descent). Where any of the dogs listed have been imported and their country of origin has been confirmed this is shown in parenthesis, in preference to the standard (Imp) identifier. A Case Study of Russia and Ukraine's Use of the Eurovision Song
Lund University FKVK02 Department of Political Science Spring 2020 Peace and Conflict Studies Supervisor: Fredrika Larsson The Battle of Eurovision A case study of Russia and Ukraine’s use of the Eurovision Song Contest as a cultural battlefield Character count: 59 832 Julia Orinius Welander Abstract This study aims to explore and analyze how Eurovision Song Contest functioned as an alternative – cultural – battlefield in the Russian-Ukrainian conflict over Crimea. With the use of soft power politics in warfare as the root of interest, this study uses the theories of cultural diplomacy and visual international relations to explore how images may be central to modern-day warfare and conflicts as the perception of. The study has a theory-building approach and aims to build on the concept of cultural diplomacy in order to explain how the images sent out by states can be politized and used to conduct cultural warfare. To explore how Russia and Ukraine used Eurovision Song Contest as a cultural battlefield this study uses the methodological framework of a qualitative case study with the empirical data being Ukraine’s and Russia’s Eurovision Song Contest performances in 2016 and 2017, respectively, which was analyzed using Roland Barthes’ method of image analysis. The main finding of the study was that both Russia and Ukraine used ESC as a cultural battlefield on which they used their performances to alter the perception of themselves and the other by instrumentalizing culture for political gain. Lordi Killection
Lordi Killection Release January 31, 2020 Genre Hardrock / Heavy Metal Producer Studio Cover Artwork Mr. Lordi TIP Photographer Nobody knows exactly how old the Finish monsters really are or how long they’ve been striking terror into people’s hearts. Officially the Rock/Heavy Metal monsters LORDI were founded in 1992 by lead singer, songwriter, visual art designer and costume designer Mr. Lordi. The band has deep Finnish roots, originating from the city of Rovaniemi, in Lapland. In 2006 they celebrated their international breakthrough by winning the Eurovision Song Contest (“Hard Rock Hallelujah”) They are Finland’s only winners to date and they earned more points than any other artists in the history of the Eurovision Song Contest up to that time. But is it possible that this is only a pale misperception of our poor, small, pathetic reality? Is there, however unlikely it may seem, another truer reality? What if LORDI would have already been making music since the early 70's? And what if they have been releasing one hit single after the other since those times and now, almost 50 years later, are looking back on a full collection of songs that have been successful ever since? This is exactly the idea that LORDI are celebrating, or maybe a more appropriate word is executing, with their newest studio album “Killection.” Killection will be released on January 31st via AFM Records/Soulfood Music. Once more Mr Lordi, the master of the masquerade, presents us with one of his ideas, absurd and genius at the same time, and comes up with a concept that has never been done before in the music industry: "Killection" is a compilation album that simply says “what if” LORDI had been in existence since the early 70's. -

Is voting political or cultural? ☆ ⁎ Victor Ginsburgh a, Abdul G. Noury b, a ECARES, Université Libre de Bruxelles and Center for Operations Research and Econometrics, Louvain-la-Neuve, Belgium b ECARES, Université Libre de Bruxelles, Belgium Received 19 December 2005; received in revised form 18 May 2007; accepted 21 May 2007 Available online 2 June 2007 Abstract We analyze the voting behavior and ratings of judges in a popular song contest held every year in Europe since 1956. The dataset makes it possible to analyze the determinants of success, and gives a rare opportunity to run a direct test of vote trading. Though the votes cast may appear as resulting from such trading, we show that they are rather driven by quality of the participants as well as by linguistic and cultural proximities between singers and voting countries. Therefore, and contrary to what was recently suggested, there seems to be no reason to take the result of the Contest as mimicking the political conflicts (and friendships). © 2007 Elsevier B.V. Introduction The purpose of this paper is to analyze the determinants of success and voting behavior of judges in one of the most popular singing contest held since 1956 in Europe, the Eurovision Song Contest. The competition is interesting since each country (player) votes for singers (or groups of singers) of all other participating countries. -

The author explores the topic not only from the academic perspective but also from the performing angle, as Sonevytsky is a practicing multidisciplinary professional with extensive professional training and significant performing experience. Sonevytsky’s unique capacity to see connections between music and Ukrainian politics in the context of history already found its reflection in her earlier projects. “The Chornobyl Songs Project: Living Culture from a Lost World” was released in 2015 by Smithsonian Folkways and elaborated on the effects of the Chornobyl nuclear disaster and the revival of rural musical repertoires. Focusing on such key terms as “sovereignty” and “Wildness,” Sonevytsky creates a unique blend of fields combining ethnomusicology, politics, feminist studies, and history. In the preface, Sonevytsky mentions that the key term “sovereignty” emerged from the acuteness of the political instability in Ukraine in the years when she was conducting her research. The second key- term “Wildness” was in her original focus when she studied the reflections of civilization and barbarism expressed in the sonic products of Crimean Tatars and Hutsuls. -

Gender and Geopolitics in the Eurovision Song Contest Introduction
Gender and Geopolitics in the Eurovision Song Contest Introduction Catherine Baker Lecturer, University of Hull [email protected] http://www.suedosteuropa.uni-graz.at/cse/en/baker Contemporary Southeastern Europe, 2015, 2(1), 74-93 Contemporary Southeastern Europe is an online, peer-reviewed, multidisciplinary journal that publishes original, scholarly, and policy-oriented research on issues relevant to societies in Southeastern Europe. For more information, please contact us at [email protected] or visit our website at www.contemporarysee.org Introduction: Gender and Geopolitics in the Eurovision Song Contest Catherine Baker* Introduction From the vantage point of the early 1990s, when the end of the Cold War not only inspired the discourses of many Eurovision performances but created opportunities for the map of Eurovision participation itself to significantly expand in a short space of time, neither the scale of the contemporary Eurovision Song Contest (ESC) nor the extent to which a field of “Eurovision research” has developed in cultural studies and its related disciplines would have been recognisable. In 1993, when former Warsaw Pact states began to participate in Eurovision for the first time and Yugoslav successor states started to compete in their own right, the contest remained a one-night-per- year theatrical presentation staged in venues that accommodated, at most, a couple of thousand spectators and with points awarded by expert juries from each participating country. Between 1998 and 2004, Eurovision’s organisers, the European Broadcasting Union (EBU), and the national broadcasters responsible for hosting each edition of the contest expanded it into an ever grander spectacle: hosted in arenas before live audiences of 10,000 or more, with (from 2004) a semi-final system enabling every eligible country and broadcaster to participate each year, and with (between 1998 and 2008) points awarded almost entirely on the basis of telephone voting by audiences in each participating state. -
