The project will widen 1.2 miles of I-5 to add one High Occupancy Vehicle (HOV), carpool lane, and one general- purpose lane in each direction. Three bridges at Shoemaker, Rosecrans and Bloomfield avenues, and a pedestrian overcrossing at Silverbow Avenue will be reconstructed to accommodate a wider freeway. The project includes shoulder widening, concrete median barriers, new ramp designs and realignment to Firestone Boulevard frontage road. Summary The Rosecrans/Bloomfield Bridges Project is the third project to begin construction as part of the I-5 South Corridor Improvement Projects from the Los Angeles/Orange County Project Costs line to the San Gabriel River Freeway (I-605).
