Bump-outs, also known as curb extensions or pedestrian peninsulas, extend the sidewalk and create new space for trees, bus shelters and other upgrades. Mid-block bump-outs occupy lane space much like vehicles parked at the curb, allowing traffic to flow beside them. Delays on Oakwood Avenue are mainly experienced at the approach to Rogers Road and at St. Clair Avenue and the proposed bump-outs are over 130m away and would not change this situation at these intersections. Options for Your Feedback On this survey and at the public event, we are asking for your feedback on a few options, including: No bump-outs Bump-outs on west side only Bump-outs on both sides If approved, should bump-outs have extra planting area or bricks pavers? Bump-out locations have been optimized for narrowing crosswalks and improving bus stops, while minimizing conflicts with driveways, turning movements and stormwater drainage.
