  • This Near-Perfect 1973 Iso Grifo Is Bargain Priced at $475,000 a Mighty Ford V-8 Powers This Beguiling Italian-American Supercar
CHANNELS ▼ This Near-Perfect 1973 Iso Grifo Is Bargain Priced at $475,000 A mighty Ford V-8 powers this beguiling Italian-American supercar. BY JOE D'ALLEGRO FEBRUARY 24, 2019 NEWS THE STUART PARR COLLECTION × S H A R E restored 1973 Iso Grifo, one of the nest supercars of its day, is on A CHANNELS ▼ sale in New York City for a cool $475,000. Iso was created by industrialist Renzo Rivolta, who made his fortune manufacturing refrigerators. Based in a suburb of Milan, Italy, the company manufactured scooters and the iconic Isetta three-wheeled bubble car that provided cash-strapped Europeans with transportation in the aermath of World War II. BMW purchased the rights and tooling to the Isetta in 1954 and sold more than 160,000 of them through 1962. The Giorgetto Giugiaro-designed Grifo is decidedly rarer than that; only 412 (some say 413) were produced between 1965 and 1974. The Grifo featured open headlights and Corvette engines for most of its run, but later models, like the one featured here, had semi-covered lights and Ford powerplants. The 351-cubic-inch Cleveland V-8 puts out 350 horsepower in this Grifo, allowing for an impressive 160-mile-per-hour top speed. Some earlier Isos featuring giant 7.0-liter Chevy engines could approach 186 mph, which was almost unheard of at the time. Decades-old Italian supercars aren't known for ease of maintenance, but basic upkeep on the Iso shouldn't be too bad, thanks to its stout muscle car heart. These were well-built and well-nished cars with strong steel frames, four-wheel disc brakes, and all-independent suspensions.

Facel-Vega HK500 Manual 1960 Galerie +32 (0)53 63 12 33 www.marreyt.com [email protected] Facel Vega HK500 Manual 1960 LHD How inspiring to look at this Marque Facel-Vega Facel Vega and realise that this was the dream come true for Mr. Jean Daninos, the founder of the prestigeous Facel Vega make. Mr. Modèle HK500 Manual Daninos believed that in the 50ies also, France needed to carry on with the tradition of its prewar great marks such as Bugatti, Année de construction 1960 Delahaye, Delage and Talbot-Lago, and develop an exclusive, fast, comfortable, beautiful and luxurious automobile. In collaboration with Volant Gauche (LHD) his in house designer, Mr. Jacques Brasseur, Daninos created a robust but largely conventional chassis with independent front suspension and a live rear axle. To it was welded Brasseur's masterpiece, a low, smooth-sided 2+2 body offering excellent all round panoramic vision. The cabin offered cosy comfort and a remarkable dashboard with somptuous hand painted wood veneer decoration. To power this beautiful vehicle, Facel obtained big, long legged V-8 engines from Chrysler in America. In this HK500 we find the most powerful 350 HP 6.3 litre V8 fed by 2 Carter 4-barrel carbs which is coupled to the sought after Pont-a-Mousson 4-speed manual gearbox (most HK500 were automatic), enabling this Facel Vega to reach 235 Km/h and accelerate from 0 to 60 Miles/h in 8.5 seconds. Chassis number BU2 was sold new in France and belonged for 20 years to the writer Jean Renald.

That’s what we all want to know. F What’s a 1979 Ferrari 308 GTB worth? What should I pay for a 1965 Mustang fastback GT? Are Mercedes pontons going up or down in value? This Price Guide, our 23rd, is one of many tools you can use to answer that question. As the number of cars in our proprietary database increases — it now stands at over 300,000 recorded public sales — we are able to examine trends in terms of the median prices of cars that have sold. Not every model in this guide makes it to auction every year, so in those few cases we’ve reached out to experts in private sales for our median price. In addition, we have our unique Investment Grade rating, changes from last year’s median price, and production numbers — data you won’t find in any other Price Guide.
