The Sunbirds fell to Cal State East Bay and Sonoma Jan. 21 Mackenzie Beck - LMU State on the opening day of the tourney before closing out the weekend with losses against the Chinese National Team, who¹s ranked #2 in the World by FINA, in an exhibi- tion and #3 Cal. Kelsie Harvey finished the weekend with 40 saves, for an average of 10 blocks per game. She recorded 12 saves from the cage in the 12-2 loss to CSUEB and followed with a 14 save performance, one coming on a penalty shot, in the narrow 8-6 defeat to SSU. FPU is back in action on Saturday, Jan. 31 in Seaside. The Sunbirds take on Santa Clara at 1 p.m. and Cal State Monterey Bay at 4 p.m. California Baptist University expected a challenge as they competed against UCLA and USC during the UCLA Invitational. Valerie Spezzaferri led the Lancers with three goals on the day scoring two goals in the third against UCLA falling 16-5. Within the first two minutes of the quarter against USC, Spezzaferri scored a goal on exclusion, making it her third goal of the season.
