England Health bosses are reminding all staff to introduce themselves every time they meet a patient. The campaign was started by Kate Granger, a doctor in another hospital, after she became a patient. She found that she didn’t know many of her carers by name, and this affected her experience. Trust Chief Executive Michael Wilson said: “We know from patient feedback that knowing staff by name means a lot and can affect their overall experience. Although staff wear name badges, they are often hard to read so we are encouraging every single member of staff to back the campaign by remembering to always start their conversations with patients by giving their name and job title. We have also introduced new, easier to read name badges. It’s sometimes very small simple things that can make a real difference and help to put patients at ease.” To find about more about the #hellomynameis campaign please visit Dr Granger’s blog at: www.drkategranger.wordpress.com The Care Quality Commission (CQC) has no concerns about the safety, quality and effectiveness of the care provided by Surrey and Sussex Healthcare NHS Trust. The Trust runs East Surrey Hospital and has got the best score possible in the latest risk rating, meaning its patients are in one of the safest hospitals in the country according to the CQC’s ‘intelligent monitoring’. The CQC take the results of their ‘intelligent monitoring’ and group the 161 acute NHS trusts into six bands based on the risk that people might not be receiving safe, effective, high quality care - with band 1 being the highest risk and band 6 the lowest. Barbara Bray, Interim Medical Director, said: “Our On the ward at East Surrey Hospital is Dr Andrew Allard focus is always patient safety, the quality of our services, clinical effectiveness and our patients’ overall experience, so it no surprise that we have maintained ‘Hot Topic’ event our position as one the safest trusts in the country.
