FOR IMMEDIATE RELEASE: MAY 7, 2019 COLUMBUS BLUE JACKETS ASSIGN FORWARD ALEXANDRE TEXIER TO AHL’S CLEVELAND MONSTERS COLUMBUS, OHIO – The Columbus Blue Jackets have assigned forward Alexandre Texier to the Cleveland Monsters, Columbus’ American Hockey League affiliate, club General Manager Jarmo Kekalainen announced today. Texier, 19, made his NHL debut on April 5 at the New York Rangers and scored his first NHL goal the following night at Ottawa. He added 2-1-3 and two penalty minutes in eight Stanley Cup Playoff contests. Prior to joining the Blue Jackets, the forward made his AHL debut with Cleveland on March 16 at Rockford and went on to post 5-2-7, four penalty minutes and a +6 plus/minus rating in seven games. The Grenoble, France native began the 2018-19 campaign with KalPa in Finland’s top professional league (Liiga), recording 14-27-41 with 36 penalty minutes in 55 contests. He led his club in assists, points and shots (265) and ranked third in goals and power play goals (five). He also finished second among the league’s players 19-years-old or younger in assists and points. Texier registered 27-36-63 with 74 penalty minutes, seven power play goals and 384 shots in 108 career Liiga contests with KalPa. In 2017-18, he was the club’s youngest player at age 18 and collected 13-9-22 and 38 penalty minutes in 53 appearances. The 6-0, 185-pound forward was selected by Columbus in the second round, 45th overall, in the 2017 NHL Draft.
