2009 Mustamäe is one of the 8 administrative districts (linnaosa in Estonian) of , the capital of . The smallest by area (it covers only 8.1 km²), it is at the same time the second largest district by population (65,793 inhabitants). It is located 5 km from the center of Tallinn and is bordered by districts , Nõmme, and . Its current territory is approx. 8 km² with 471 residential houses, which are mostly 5- and 9-story buildings.

Mustamäe is bordered by the streets Tuuliku, Kadaka tee, Tildri, , Nõmme tee, Retke tee, Ehitajate tee, Üliõpilaste tee, Raja, Soone, Lossi, Mäepealse, Kadaka puiestee, Järveotsa tee. Mustamäe is bordered by Nõmme hill in the south and in north west. Mustamäe has 4 subdistricts (asum in Estonian):

History

Established in 1962 and completed in 1973 as a microdistrict, Mustamäe was Tallinn's first large district. Similar districts, Õismäe and Lasnamäe were completed later.

Transportation

Mustamäe is connected to the rest of Tallinn via three main streets: Mustamäe tee and Sõpruse puiestee lead to the center of Tallinn, and Ehitajate tee crosses Mustamäe while connecting Nõmme and Õismäe. Other major streets include: A. H. Tammsaare tee, Kadaka tee, Ed. Vilde tee, and Akadeemia tee. Most of the public transportation operates on these streets. Mustamäe is serviced by buses and trolleybuses. Out the 8 trolleybus lines of Tallinn, 6 operate (partly) in Mustamäe.

7. Leivakivi- Bread boulder

Protected Natural Monument

In the city it is important that the little live nature that we have is not destroyed or ruined. Many special sights of nature are under protection. In Mustamäe there is also a boulder that is under protection. Lehola boulder stands next to Lehola bus stop by Vilde road. The boulder looks like a loaf of bread and it is also called the Bread Boulder. The boulder has been in our neighbourhood for a very long time. More specifically, the boulder is rapakivi granite (a hornblende-biotitic granite). 8. Parditiigi park- The park of pond of ducks

The park has an area of 5.9 hectares There are over 150 different kind of plants. Pond is located in the north-east of the park, most of which remain in the shade of trees and bushes. „Mustamäe Beauty” by Tauno Kangro The sculpture is located approximately 1.5 meters above the water and has been approved in addition to the concrete platform. The North Estonia Medical Centre is Estonia’s foremost hospital. Our mission is to provide top-level patient-friendly healthcare and to promote the development of medicine in Estonia. The hospital is a higher level medical institution. Hospital’s main buildings are situated in Tallinn (different locations), Kose and Keila. The hospital is an employer for 3626 people, including 590 doctors, 1352 nursing staff and 862 caregivers. There are over 100 resident doctors in the hospital at any given time.
